About the museum Natural History Museum Denmark is beautifully located in the corner of the Botanical Garden near Nørreport Station. Until October 2022 the museum also welcomed guests at the Zoological Museum at Østerbro, which is now closed to the public in order to prepare for the new museum building that will open in the Botanical Garden in a few years time.

Mary Foley Benson (1905-1992) was a US entomological and botanical illustrator who worked with many scientists and institutions such as the USDA, the Smithsonian, and the University of California. She also had a fine arts career, exhibiting country-wide, and served as a pilot during WWII.

A Snow Flea - a small, long-legged insect with a very long face (like its relatives the scorpionflies). An overall dark, bronzy colour with yellow & orange highlights.

Its that time of year again: a male Snow Flea, one of 3 seen yesterday in woodland on the Shrops/Herefords border. These 4mm relatives of Scorpionflies live in moss (esp. Polytrichum & relatives) & are winter active as adults. Not fleas of course but they can jump a bit.

Jason is manager of the Cornell University Insect Collection (CUIC) and manager of the Insect Diagnostic Laboratory. His main research interest is microlepidoptera with a focus on taxonomy of the Tortricidae, especially the tribe Archipini.
