Mechanical loading induces the longitudinal growth of muscle fibers via a rapamycin-insensitive mechanism mTORC1 does not always hold the key to unlocking the mechanical load-induced growth of skeletal muscle.

Increase in fiber cross-sectional area was mediated through a rapamycin-sensitive signaling pathway, whereas longitudinal growth, marked by the in-series addition of sarcomeres, was mediated through a rapamycin-insensitive signaling pathway.

New study! Those who responded well to resistance training did quite well also in the second training after a training break. So some people seem to be physiologically more talented. But the individual nature of training adaptations are still overexaggerated.

New study from our lab! Human muscle cells incorporate glucose into proteins, RNA, and lipids, and anabolic stimulation further increased these processes. Resistance training increased metabolites and enzymes of these processes, e.g., PHGDH, which was shown to be anabolic.
