Just evicted a wasp from my office. No idea where it came from or how it got inside. Or maybe it was already inside? 😱 Happy spring, everyone!
I still have all the episodes on a VHS tape. Somewhere. In a box. But no player! Must find it and get the damn thing digitized.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on our doorstep. It’s a luxury, of course, and we’ve recently reduced the amount in each delivery, but it means we’ve ditched the plastic and are helping a local business.
It was great. Without throwing shade on any other speaker who’s given a presentation in similar circumstances (and I own up to never having done it), yours was hands-down the best of all those I’ve attended. Insightful, honest, frank, helpful, and hopeful. And I’m a copy editor! Thank you. 👏👍
A bright orange cardboard model of the rocket from Aardman’s animated film A Grand Day Out.
Interior details of a cardboard model of the rocket from Aardman’s A Grand Day Out. Inside can be seen Wallace and Gromit; outside is the skiing cooker.

Had great fun building this cardboard model of Wallace and Gromit’s rocket from Aardman’s A Grand Day Out. Complete with skiing cooker! Cracking!
A Lego build of comic characters Calvin and Hobbes (by Bill Watterson) in the snow in front of Christmas trees.
From Calvin and Hobbes, a very merry Christmas; and from me, goodnight.
Kudos (of a kind) to my local supermarket for alternating Xmas music with more usual fare. So amid Mariah and the rest, shoppers were regaled with everything from Take That to Barry White. Fair got me into the Xmas spirit, I can tell you.
It’s just Desert Island Discs, but even more frustrating. I know you contain multitudes. And my name is Legion. 😉
Close up of a car tyre with a screw sticking out of it.
So, this happened. 🙄
Ten-four, Rubber Duck.
View of a theatre stage with a blue backdrop with white text reading ‘My Neighbor Totoro’.
Feeling all the feels of anticipation for a great show. In London for My Neighbor Totoro.
Are you writing your own literary reviews now?
I’d say my nine-year-old son is the enthusiast. I’m just along for the ride!
The species is Hutt; their home planet Nal Hutta; their language Huttese.
Star Wars literature usually caps up species names, as far as I can tell.
Somewhere, in a galaxy far, far away, there’ll be a definitive authority. That ain’t me!
He’s a Hutt/hutt (see earlier discussion), full name Jabba Desilijic Tiure.
I need a lie down.
*ahem* Cap or no cap, it’s Wookiee/wookiee.
I should make room in my overheated brain for something else, shouldn’t I?
And the crossing lines: the violin bows, the table, the necks of instruments. And then that ‘modern’ head in the foreground looking away, not part of the group. Brilliant.
Sorry if that’s all too effusive! 🫠
What a great picture. The colours, the expressions, the composition: how everyone is turned towards the action in the foreground, the players who are facing away from the viewer and into the picture. The flautist on the left joining in draws the eye across all the faces. Art from the Low Countries!

Another fun Calvin and Hobbes build with Alden. Some lovely details included here, like Hobbes’s apple and the wildlife.
At least you found a ‘family’ bag. They’ve disappeared round my way. I had to make do with the small ones. Daylight robbery.
Took my son to see Flow this morning. Highly recommended. Beautifully strange and obviously a labour of love for the animator. Full of feeling without being sentimental.
Taking our seats at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham for some Horrible Histories! End of term fun for all the family. Executions, armada, general Tudor mayhem.
Happy anniversary, authors! 😍
What’s the difference between a rhinoceros and a biscuit?
You can’t dip a rhinoceros in your tea!
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
You can’t wash your hands in a buffalo!
What’s that? Yeah, I’m a dad. Does it show?
A boy dressed up as the character Skulduggery Pleasant for World Book Day, 6 March 2025.
My son, all dressed up as Skulduggery Pleasant for World Book Day. Mum sourced the trench coat, shirt, gloves, and hat, and made the fireballs. Nice to see the mask fits well!
A white geometric paper skull mask.
Made a geometric skull mask for my son to wear as Skulduggery Pleasant for World Book Day tomorrow. Pretty cool!
Accidentally, you say? 🤔
Is it me, or has the spam count in my email gone up since yesterday? Effortless cleaning, ChatGPT courses for productivity, website audits, Japanese insoles, capsules to ‘melt fat!’, pillows, ‘documents’ contained in .rar files. Oh, and an invitation to become a ‘partner vendor’ with Tesla.
