Yeah, I think it could maybe still happen post-June 1 if the offers are good enough, but so far the Eagles haven’t seemed desperate enough to make this happen to believe it’d go any way other than this. bsky.app/profile/dian...

One of those “can you imagine if Tippett did this more often” games that he only has like once a month
take care of our good smol boy pls
If they really, truly thought the AJ situation was untenable I think they would have just chalked this up as a transition/reset year, traded him, and taken as much of their medicine as they can in hopes of having a cleaner cap sheet in 2027. Could still end up wrong but just my guess.
In all seriousness while I guess things could change post-6/1, as soon as we knew Fangio and Lane were coming back it just didn’t made sense to think the Eagles would take an extra $20M in dead cap to lose one of their best players for anything short of a real silly offer.
alright feels like we can put this on the calendar
why am I laughing so hard at this hat www.neweracap.com/products/phi...
Experience Philadelphia Flyers Hockey
i bet that freakin Danny Briere thought this was last Friday am I right people!!!!
wow that sounds TERRIBLE (spending any time with Albert) (cool wood tho)
I generally think that front offices should stay out of the coach’s way with stuff like lineup construction but there is an important caveat, that being “if the coach is being a dumbass”.
Schwarbarian is the Marchbarian
ohhhh this might be the answer. Walk-off, against the Giants, at a time when 61-yarders weren’t a given, plus the hindsight bonus of “this got us rolling towards our first-ever title”. bsky.app/profile/dont...
Spent the last 15 years saying "the shootout is more or less a coin flip competition and also I never expect the Flyers to win one ever" and now whenever this team that lets be honest here does not have that much talent lines up for a shootout i expect them to just easily win it??
I do not know how to process a world where the Flyers are actively and regularly winning shootouts.
that was maybe the *coolest* play, not the biggest. important distinction imo
Yeah. Even the season-defining plays in ‘24 (the Saquon runs, mainly) feel like they were mostly on the road.
The Lito pick-6 to seal it against Dallas in 2006 comes to mind, maybe the scoop-and-score that got 44-6 in motion, I’m sure there are others that come to mind, but I don’t remember a moment of absolute pandemonium in the building before January that was quite like that one.
Recency bias reigns here for sure, but: Is this the biggest play at the Linc in regular-season history?
Remember when he made the Flyers because Chuck Fletcher loved him and then for like two weeks every time Torts was asked about him he was like “obviously this guy is not an NHLer why are you asking me about this”
Started hooting and hollering when the broadcast dropped a Hayden Hodgson reference
hoss this plan did NOT WORK
YEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWW
ok hell yeah for Bump but is Grebenkin serious with that pass
I think, without a shred of irony, there’s a greater than zero chance Tocchet said to himself “what’s the worst possible lineup I can put together that has Zegras at C and Michkov at RW just so I can get these people to stop complaining?” when assembling today’s lines
suddenly looking back at those Jalen Carter for Maxx Crosby rumors from yesterday with a slightly more inquisitive eye
great for JD tho. became a real fun player last year.
They have made one actively difficult decision in the Briere era and that decision (trading Sean Walker) probably cost them a playoff spot in 2024 and they have just been afraid of letting go of anything since then.
The Flyers’ problem is that they understand that they are in a rebuild and need better players than the ones they have and yet at nearly every opportunity they have been given to change the players they have, the front office has instead said “actually, we like the guys we have”.
very funny reading about how “the Eagles are sticking to their price with AJ Brown” and saying “hell yeah they better” while also reading “the Flyers stuck to their price on Rasmus Ristolainen” and descending into complete personal madness
