Out in Throckley this morning with Mark Hardy, one of our excellent candidates for Newcastle City Council and local Labour team members.
Total nightmare for Nigel Farage. He's spent years desperately trying to distance himself and his various parties from this far-right crim - and now look what's happened.
On this day in 1945, the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau exposed the scale of Nazi crimes to the world and became a symbol of the horrors of the Holocaust, the resilience of its survivors, and the guilt of its enablers.
We just need 45 more defections to make the Lib Dems the official opposition….
Great to spend Saturday with our excellent Labour candidates for Throckley, Walbottle and Newburn ward.
Some great conversations on the doorstep - thanks to everyone who took the time to chat.
💬 "To genuinely support children and families, we must take a holistic approach, addressing social media, smartphones, and platform design as interconnected, rather than separate, issues".
Michael Wheeler MP adds his thoughts to the ongoing debate around social media... 🤳 📱

Very good from Ed Miliband on wind energy,
"The cost of building new generation gas would be higher than off shore wind"
"Off shore wind prevents the need for expensive gas plants to run"
"This is home grown clean power that we control"
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
For well over a decade, Nigel Farage criticised Davos and just two years ago criticised Starmer for going and calling him a
"full-on globalist, hanging out with his mates at the World Economic Forum."
So, question. Where do you think Nigel Farage is going today?

Out again in Woolsington this morning with the local Labour team. Some (very reasonable) concerns about international events and some useful conversations about issues both local and national.
Very little appetite for the politics of division here.
Out in Newburn this morning. Very little appetite for a Reform Council that would be focused on division - and lots of support for our excellent candidates. Picked up some important casework too.
The Reform pitch is increasingly “the last government was terrible, so we’ve hired everyone who was in it”.
BREAKING Kemi Badenoch has sacked Robert Jenrick from the shadow cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership.
She says she was "presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect" to Reform
"And under a Reform Government, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to heat their stables at the taxpayers' expense."
“We’re gonna need a bigger bus”
Tinpot Tories
Well this is awkward
I've stopped using X (for quite some time) but left my profile up in case a constituent wants to get my contact details via it for casework.

Good to read this morning from @lizforleicester.bsky.social. Absolutely the right approach.
Joined Simon Harrison and Liam Spencer, two of our excellent candidates for Newcastle City Council out on the doorstep in Kenton Bank Foot today.
Some great conversations on a range of issues - from local to national to international!
The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.
Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"

💥 NEW: “I’d shoot Starmer myself.” That’s what Reform UK councillor John Allen said just days ago.
Our investigation revealed his comments and The Guardian has now confirmed he has been suspended by party HQ. ❗

Brilliant to be out in Prudhoe with @joemorrismp.bsky.social supporting Lawrence O’Donnell and Angie Scott, chatting to residents ahead of May’s local elections in Northumberland about how the Labour Government is delivering on our Plan for Change for communities in the North East.
The first schools in our area to benefit:
✅ Cambo First School
✅ Otterburn Primary School
✅ Chollerton Church of England First School
✅ Mickley First School
This initiative will save families up to £450 a year and I look forward to seeing it rolled out constituency-wide in time.
We are delivering on our promise to roll out breakfast clubs for all primary school children. Starting in April, 750 schools across the country - including four in our constituency - will begin offering free breakfast clubs to ensure no child starts the day hungry.
Thank you to Broomhaugh First School, Corbridge First School, Highfield Middle School, Shaftoe Trust Academy, Haydon Bridge High School, Allendale Primary School, Hexham Priory School and Otterburn Primary School for the warm welcome.
Slowly but surely, I'm making my way through the brilliant educational institutions we have here. I am looking forward to meeting more of the hard-working staff and students at schools across our constituency in the coming months.
