Things I learned: itβs not all about ancient woodland - ancient grasslands are also special, meadows and pastureland are VERY different, fungi are curious alien things we donβt really understand, and mycologists are often snooty about common names which seems silly when they are so fun π πβπ«
As I solder through my third lurgy in two months and draft my complaint letter to Berocca, Iβm enjoying this on the tellyβ¦ www.conwayhall.org.uk/whats-on/eve...
Last night I went to a talk about fungi and mushrooms and invite you to tag yourself on this list of fantastical common names. www.mentalfloss.com/science/ecol...
I know it doesn't actually solve the problem, but as a regular train commuter this website does help me get past the enigmatic silences of platform displays/announcements... www.realtimetrains.co.uk

To be fair that is pretty chilly... And yet it's 13C/55F over in the north of England right now π₯²
I'm reading Intermezzo for Work Book Club. I'm nearly halfway through and, so far, not one unquiet spirit/sΓ©ance/uncanny happening. Disappointing.

The new Frankenstein is delicious. GDT is an alchemist who has taken the most wonderful liberties with the brilliant novel I love to hate.
Grid of nine images featuring retro-themed items, including a t-shirt, framed prints, phone case, Christmas gift wrap, cushion, and a mug.
It's been a very quiet week.
As a small business owner thatβs a bit scary heading into my busy season.
So, if you're looking for unique #Christmas gifts, I make prints, homewares, cards & accessories inspired by midcentury design, music & architecture.

A thread of dreamy books I couldnβt buy today because of rent. (I did buy some but not these.)
I think this is supposed to be punitive but I want to be exiled to a castle in the Scottish highlands.

Swoon.
I think that realising you don't feel okay is a significant step in itself. I hope the knitting continues to see you through π
JORDAN CATALANO.
The nanofibres/oil tanker scene in 3 Body Problem is like *that* Ghost Ship scene to the power of at least 12.
I've also been following someone going this MKAL on YouTube and I am in awe of anyone undertaking it. I hope you are feeling much better soon and get more chances for cosy knitting.
Obviously we don't approve of security guards being threatened, but you've got to admire a good old fashioned daylight heist. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
It was homemade but not by us - the bonfire was in our local park and was very big, someone or other made the guy and stuck it on the top!
We did homemade Parkin, lots of treacle toffee, and a local bonfire with a guy on top. Sometimes sparklers and fireworks in the back garden if we were lucky. (Greater Manchester in the late 80s.)
