I wouldn't say I'm glad this happened to you, but I am glad this sort of thing doesn't only happen to me. I went through this and the whole "why is it not working" thing a little bit ago and ended up with PostCSS/cssnano.

π¨ New tool: Impolighthouse
Not just βhow fast is my site?β, but βwhy is it slow, and what does that say about our org?β
A deliberately impolite wrapper on top of Lighthouse, that calls out your organizational cruft, blockers & bad decisions.

Ace. Irritated-level feedback motivated me to finally resize and provide a couple of extra source images π
When you resize the Finder too, there's some weird stuff going on with transparency as the menu items disappear. Feels like a prototype to me π€·
Have you taken Spotlight for a spin yet?
On iOS there's a lot of stuff, but at least some of the damage can be reduced through the Accessibility settings. On Tahoe, the most noticeable thing is that the Finder is plug ugly. Across both, though, it just "feels" so rough and ready. Hopefully there will be some updates soon that address that.
I did both updates (iOS 26 and Tahoe) last night and spent today with it. I think that's long enough to give a fair, balanced assessment and say that, on reflection, I am filled with regret and wish I hadn't done it.
I've read a number of posts about personal websites lately from different perspectives, all highlighting their value. This is my attempt to reflect on reclaiming my creative space and what it means to me.

After seeing Zach's post, I was pretty confused how the Beano could have been a thing in the US at that time. This explains everything, and I can move forward now.
Sad that Facebook has found a way to interfere even with learning to play the piano.
I used to love that golden curry sauce until I reached the age where something in it, probably MSG, kept me awake all night. Thereβs a great book, "Japaneasy" by Tim Anderson, with a homemade version that tastes very similar without the unfortunate side effects: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
I could, and very well might, watch that animation loop all day long.
I made a typeface, it's called Flexflex π
I've been working on this project on-and-off for many months. Very happy to finally release it!
Flexflex is a typeface that responds to spatial requirements rather than imposing them.

This will hardly be groundbreaking for seasoned Eleventy folk, but I wrote up my experience shifting to remote builds and scheduling automated deployments with Netlify build hooks and GitHub Actions.

@chameth.com Here's a link to my newly minted RSS feed: damianwalsh.co.uk/feed.xml. Thanks for the nudge, Chris!
Thanks Chris, that means a lot to me! I need to get on the case with RSSβyou aren't the first to ask about it.
I've written up my experience so far building a digital bookshelf with Eleventy and the OpenLibrary API. Obviously, it's not a particularly new or original idea, and there are already many similar write-upsβthis just happens to be mine.

I previously said I wouldn't be posting here, but since I've got something to share, why not? I've been working on my music collection project again, introducing a way to organise releases around life periods.

I gave Bluesky a fair go, but it's not for me. I haven't built much of a following here, but anyone who wants to can connect with me on Mastodon @damianwalsh@mastodon.social. Most people Iβm interested in hearing from seem to be cross-posting on both platforms, something I can't be bothered to do.
11ty Meetup Reminder! Tomorrow we have @davidmoll.net and @zachleat.com giving us 2 short talks - for all the details and add to calendar links, check out 11tymeetup.dev
P.S. How do you like our new share image? π
