100% agree, but: I only have experience in the US, but very few of the people who live around farms I'm familiar with own and operate them. Farm land is crazy expensive! Many farm others' farms, sell farming goods, or are part of the transport network. Hope that explains some of these complaints
To be a tiny contrarian (ha) I think there is also bias towards publishing things that confirm hunches (I always thought so!)

Short answer is no. Stock buybacks can't be initiated on a whim. Longer answer is that you can have a program in place that grants you some flexibility. You can, of course, call up your bank and very loudly tell them to get ready (not saying that happened)
