I'm right there with you on the antiphons! Thankfully the rubrics allow for them if drawn from scripture
The Sewanee CSM are great and straight BCP in their liturgies
"You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Happy Feast! β
So it's definitely not an automatic barrier to ordination but I would encourage you to talk with your current parish priest and your bishop especially if you're in discernment. You can also request a marriage judgment from the bishop as to the status of your marriage in the eyes of the church.
What's everyone doing for Lenten studies this year? β
You're right, it's not necessarily biblical but it was pretty universally held throughout the Church's history even by the reformers so I'm not sure it's a hill to die on either way. Joseph being older definitely has a grounding in the tradition as well
O Virgin of virgins, how shall this be? for never was there one like thee, nor will there ever be. Ye daughters of Jerusalem, why look ye wondering at me? What ye behold, is a divine mystery
Happy Feast of the Expectation of Our Lady!
The liturgical calendar is a spiritual technology.
When we overlay our lives onto it, year after year, the patterns become increasingly apparent. Like rubbing over an embossed template. β
Honestly on reading it I would say it seems like the rubrics in the BOS assume a priest is presiding. If that's not the case I would suggest concluding with the Grace after the collect instead.
This is so good! You should give it a watch.
I know there's disagreement here on how to approach it but I think I would lean towards conditional baptism just in case
Ah! I forgot about Christ the Victorious.
Two new members of the household! Praise the Lord.
What hymn is set to God Preserve the Tsar?
In the Creed we profess belief in a God who created all things, seen and unseen. I think there are absolutely unseen realities that are part of God's creation and scripture and tradition point to the fact that angels as real spiritual entities are part of that creation.
See you there!
I'm finding it and the readings from revelation to be timely reminders and examples of our call to faithfulness no matter what comes.
He's so great. I really came to appreciate him during my time in the Orthodox Church. I'm so glad he's on our calendar.
Happy Feast day to one of my favorite North American Saints, St. Herman of Alaska! β
What if I told you you didn't need an app to chat with Jesus
we renounce Satan
"visit this place, O Lord, and drive far from it...."
I've found reliant to be relatively decent
As an aside... for those who prefer contemporary language, the Great Litany from EOW really isn't bad and you should check it out β
It's Friday, which means it's a good time to pray the Litany! Today, as we continue this month of November, I'm especially grateful for this reminder to pray for the faithful departed β
Rowan Williams elevates the host during a celebration of Eucharist. There are chalices and cruets of wine on the altar, and in the background members of the choir can be seen.
Reverence for the bread and the wine of the Eucharist is the beginning of reverence for the whole world.

The collect is from the Visitation (May 31st) but although this feast dates from the 6th century it wasn't added to TECs calendar until the 2018 revision of Lesser Feasts and Fasts and since it's a Lesser Feast it (sadly) doesn't get office readings.
Happy Birthday, Mom! β
