If i had known the field of CS would start worshipping AI so unapologetically when i started, I would have at least examined other options. It’s hard to imagine advancing my career without moving to a position that’s directly involved with AI, and I’d rather stay where I am than do that

When i was younger and heard “crash the party” in songs, I imagined someone making an elaborate coup de’ etat to take over control of the party or shut it down. Now I know it just means showing up uninvited which is so much more boring

And I don’t think this is a bad thing because there are definitely people who aren’t nice by default, but I feel like I’m lucky to have friends who do go the extra mile for me, and I wish I could match their kindness more easily/often

I think I’m nice but not “go the extra mile” nice. As in, I will be nice to everyone and help as needed, but I wish I had more energy to do nice things for people when they’re not expecting it
