If you're referring to the Gamespot article, that one has much more emphasis on machine learning, though the article uses ml/ai interchangeably (which is lazy). There are differences (like training on consenting artists work), and the large scale gen AI is what people have a problem with
Also, if you're using gen ai for placeholders, I promise you there will be gen ai content in version 1.0. Just ask Sandfall :)

A couple of people are pointing out that Clair Obscur used gen AI, but the thing that really kills me is that they didn't disclose it! And Steam is just fine with that I guess! And no journalist will investigate bc the internet is so feral about this game!

People hated Fi. Hell, they hated Navi too, just the rest of the game made up for it. I'd argue a large part of the success of BOTW was due to leaving the player alone and letting them explore.

Went to the local Assyrian restaurant for the first time and it was absolutely phenomenal! We got pickled eggplant, cheese za'atar flatbread, a chicken porridge-type dish, duck confit, orange blossom creme brulee, and tahini pie. Everything was so delicious! I really hope this restaurant makes it 🥲

People are absolutely feral about clair obscure in a way I'm not seeing for the alters, at least in my circles. Everyone I've tried to talk to about it just straight up doesn't care bc they love the game so much. Like I think they'd accept almost any amount of gen AI in the game
It's so wild to me that people are chill with "a little" AI in their games, in an industry plagued with crunch and layoffs. Gen AI will absolutely be used to justify treating workers like shit. Why extend timelines to avoid crunch when you can just generate everything?
