CONFLICTED
CONFLICTED
Don't usually draw attention to random things people say online but look i found an actual crazy person
Way he. And was judgemental.
Stupid bloody phone
Maybe the multimillionaire 80 something year old has been told he's special one too many times for me to find him relatable anymore.
Compared to everything I've seen from the other Optimus actors and honestly the consistent quality of their performances...yeah I lost the love for Mr. Cullen
The maybe spoke was so dismissive of the work and judgemental. And then his response to someone shouting he's the only real optimis...disregarding decades of other actors.
For many that was when they soured on Knight because of Cullen. For me it was when I soured on Cullen
A lot in that which put my hackles up
Just makes me think of how Cullen is held on a pedestal. Which for me was undermined by some of his post bumblebee comments. Nothing close to what happened with Furuya but reminding me where the term fan comes from
But tbf i think skybound has been too in love with carnage from day one. So for me its more symptomatic than an anomaly. This is just the most blatant "come back next month" moment
His son then say "id still have you dad" that would be seen globally as disgusting.
I think violence as a tool is vital in a narrative but I think we tolerate it in a way we dont tolerate other forms of abuse in media.
MTMTE and RID era were very violent. But I never felt it was so...distasteful
Im a massive automotive megatron/villain redeemer fan. But that's not high concept "what if the bad guy felt bad". That's a real thing that happens in the real world. Like...uncomfortable example but if he hadn't nearly beaten him to death but sexually assaulted him to prove a point and we had
I dont love the design either tbh but I think (and complete bias here) in IDW Phase 2 Arcee being Magnus would have been a full issue that really delves into what it means to be Magnus. Like...beyond a title and new body why the vision quest? Why is this not just a promotion? Why do Magnuses matter?
I mean I have to admit the I still have you dad grosses me out. Because that's a father that just beat his son into near unconsciousness. And I dont like he gets the arc he gets. Its not a comic villain redemption. Its a comic version of a very real issue that needed defter hands
To use a transformers specific example.
This page here? This exists for a purpose. It highlights something valuable. Its not there to just shock and to make sure you come back next month.
Transformerd Skybound issue 28 spoilers but im irritated so there we are
Violence is always extreme but there's violence that exists to dramatise a point, to illustrate something intense. And there's violence that exists to titillate. One to me has value. The other is childish
Skybound went from not speaking to me to confusing me to just feeling distasteful to me.
28 and the 29 preview...come on.
This isn't the bloody 90s. You can't just do something gross and call it plot.
A big problem I've had with both runs is you can't tell me that the deceptions are LUDICROUSLY monstrous and then tell me Thundercracker thought this was a noble cause or make me care cause Megatron was mean to Starscream or Soundwave is sad about his cat. Theyre beyond vile. In a very teen boy way
I mean Im an idw fan boy and I love me some grotesque violence. But just the idea of what happened and trying to make it feel like like there's depth to the scene. Plus the painful "permanent death" line. Way to functionally undermine any and all stakes.
It feels very VERY dark age.
So Skybound 28 makes you remember that this is written by a guy who struggles massively with pacing and has the most 90s teen tendency to try to be dark and edgy.
Arcee stuff is conceptually cool but felt almost packed on. Thundercracker page is good. End is...childish.
Well
Time to rewrite a few sections of the new book
New material of Ajkaceratops cements its identity as a ceratopsian, but adds a new wrinkle. It turns out that many european ornithischians previously classified as iguanodontians may actually be ceratopsians! New paper by @tweetisaurus.bsky.social et al., that I provided art for (link in reply).

Btw this is how you wrap up a series in a special while bringing a satisfying conclusion to a redemption arc Earthspark
youtube.com/playlist?lis...
Know what show also had 3 seasons and ended on 2 specials? That got progressively better and better until it was one of the most original transformers series and ended on two really fun satisfying specials that honoured the character development?
It's a struggle for me to feel like a Transformers fan at the moment.
The mainline toys are effectively pricing me out of the market
The comics are doing very little for me
And the cartoon that had such a reasonable start has tanked to ludicrous levels
It's burdensome
In will probably try Earthspark season 1 again someday. But god will I never touch the rest of it
Jesus christ
Jesus H Christ
Earthspark
And I really mean this
Can. Fuck. Off.
That was fucking ridiculous
That's how you end things
Really?
Jesus christ the production team changes took this pretty solid show and just broke its legs didn't it.
Who okayed this and thought "man the kids will love it"
Mothra's boobs are gonna be huge
Ok real talk. I'm more into the Kirk run than the DWJ one so far...but man is Kirk doing bad on the end of issue cliffhangers.
While I'm more into the story atm than I was with DWJ, the dialog is pretty...diiiiiifficult. Very....grandiose.
Wish I was excited for this but after the production shift in s2 I can't be.
Still both Prime and Cyberverse used a restricted format for strong finales so maaaaaaybe...but I feel the damage is done in my eyes
