7/ We did have some alerts during Purim, but were able to hear Megillah and have a quiet, small festive meal with some friends. We make due, adjust and pivot as needed and as we have done throughout Covid, Oct 7th, Juneβs 12 days and now.
6/ And now after destruction in various places around The Middle East, folks are working together to pivot and adjust and help each other, physically, virtually and logically (like with computer stuff).
This past week was also Purim, where the Jews of Persia were to be attacked.
5/ the attacks on the AWS AZs in Bahrain and the UAE. Just as the HaShem did after the sin of the golden calf, we have fixes, the red cow. After the destruction of the 1st and 2nd Temples, the sages pivoted and made adjustments.
4/ So if we take all of that into consideration, this week my wife and I have spent significant quality time in our safe room due to missile alerts. And during the day, I would take my work laptop with me because I was helping customers with the aftermath of ...
3/ Pesach (Passover) holiday. But the Parah Adumah (the red cow) is a fixing for the Golden Calf. By the way, I recently saw the red cows that are being raised in Israel in an effort to be able to fullfill the purification ritual.
2/ A new set of tablets are created by Moshe. The sages say that we received the instructions for the Mishkan (Tabernacle) was to create a mobile Har Sinai so that HaShem would always be with us. And Parshat Parah is a reminder that we need to become ritually pure before the upcoming ...
1/ Chevre, this weekβs parsha is Ki Tisa (ΧΧ ΧͺΧ©Χ) and Parshat Parah (Χ€Χ¨Χ©Χͺ Χ€Χ¨Χ). The main focus of the parsha this week is The Sin of the Golden Calf. HaShem tells Moshe to go down to his people. He drops or throws the original tablets, smashing them. And then we have the aftermath of the sin.
8/ The tech can coorelate things, but itβs the deep understanding of our systems and their failure modes that drives the tech engineers to identify and resolve issues. AI can be a tool in the toolbox, but remember (Zachor) that the human must remain in control.
Shabbat Shalom.
7/ That is the collective memory of the people building and maintaining a system. The human ability to maintain a context is much greater than any current technologies.
6/ And we must remain vigilant to protect ourselves, our families, our communities and our nation against the worldβs evils. And our son has joined that effort in the protection of Am Yisrael.
To me, Zachor has an additional meaning. Itβs not something that AI can readily replace yet.
5/ We also have Zachor this week, to remember what Amalek did to us. On one hand, we must remember that their are those in the world out to get the Jewish people. Through war, through antisemitism.
4/ He lifted himself up, through 8 months of work, to earn and merit the beret. And I beleave that the Kohen HaGadolβs clothing was similar. He needs to lift himself up to the level of the clothes and maintain his holiness at that level.
3/ This week we were at our sonβs Maasah Kumtah (and we are bursting with pride). And seeing him in his full gear and finishing his 50km march really lifted my heart. And he was so happy to get his Brigadeβs beret. What I saw, was that they made each other.
2/ There is an idea about the clothes making the person or the person making the clothes. It reminds me of Shabbat keeping the Jewish people over the past 3000 years or the Jewish people keeping Shabbat. Honestly, I think sometimes its 1 way and sometimes itβs the other.
1/ Chevre, this weekβs parsha is Tetzaveh (ΧͺΧ¦ΧΧ) and Zachor (ΧΧΧΧ¨). A good chunk of the parsha is a deep dive explanation into the clothing worn by the Kohen HaGadol, the inauguration, followed by some of the daily offerings.
4/ chesed overwhelmed (buffer overflow) the receivers.
I bless you that you should all be givers of chesed and receivers of the right levels of chesed and that our gemilut chasadim should help the world keep turning and making the world a better place for everyone.
3/ all for the price of the single little one that I asked for.
There is generally an idea (from the Mishnah) that there is no limit to chesed or gemilut chasadim (same root as chesed). While generally that is true, here we see that there was a situation that the ...
2/ There is a Midrash that Moshe had to tell the people to stop bringing valuables to donate to the Mishkan. This is like if I asked AWS for an EC2 instance and it didnβt only give me what I asked for, but it gave me 3 of them and much bigger than I needed and ...
1/ Chevre, this weekβs parsha is Terumah (ΧͺΧ¨ΧΧΧ). We now get into the instructions for building the Mishkan (The Tabernacle) which is sometimes referred to as the portable Mount Sinai because the holiness that was present at Sinai is now invested into different pieces of the Mishkan.
7/ I look forward to see what new unique ways the tech world simulates and replicates the Torah world in the future. Shabbat Shalom.

6/ In the AI world, we have guardrails and context files that tell the AI what it is or is not allowed to do. All of these are fences and protections similar to what we have built up in Halacha over the years.
5/ In the computer world, we have monitoring and observability to try to understand and maintain systems along with buffers, firewall rules, and a whole host of protections we have built up over the years.
4/ Here, the people have accepted the Torah and we have spent the last 3k+ years exploring the intricate details of those rules. And we have expanded them, added fences around them to protect ourselves.
3/ Later in the parsha, we have the famous Χ Χ’Χ©Χ ΧΧ Χ©ΧΧ’ (We will do and we will hear). Continuing our story, theyβre saying βok ok ok, Iβll do it and Iβll figure out the details laterβ. Kinda like accepting the license agreement on software, I just want it to work.
2/ You can imagine that the Israelites would get overwhelmed by all of this. I think about it as a person sitting at terminal and suddenly all the logs go flying by. There is too much, you canβt see and receive and process all of it at that speed.
1/ Chevre, this weekβs parsha is Mishpatim (ΧΧ©Χ€ΧΧΧ). Last week we recieved the Torah at Sinai. This week we do a deep dive into the details of the laws. Civil Laws, Slavery, Murder, Murder of a Slave, Injury, Death by Animal, Danger of a Pit, Damages, etc etc. Lots and lots of details.
10/ So whether you are trying to be more Amazonian or more like Ben Zoma, I bless you (and please bless me back) to always have an open mind and an open heart to learn from the vast experience of others.
Shabbat Shalom.
