Great news!!! Likely the prospect of losing massive taxpayer subsidies helped focus minds at Drax.

Drax to stop burning controversial Canadian wood within next year Yorkshire plant has been criticised for taking material from some of British Columbia’s most environmentally important forests

Good news! Drax to stop clearcutting BC forests for wood pellet power in UK (which is worse for our climate than coal, and diverts wood from other uses that provide way more jobs & value per tree). But Drax may try to export to other countries! www.theguardian.com/environment/... #bcpoli #axedrax

"Canada is at war with the US". The sooner we wake up to this reality, the better.

Precisely. High-fives all around in both the Kremlin and Mar-a-Lago as Smith + the Alberta separatist 5th columnists undermine Canada. The β€˜U’ in UCP stands for β€˜Useful Idiots”.

Thanks for standing with Ukraine @hedyfry.bsky.social !
You might be interested to know that fascist πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί relies on 6 special LNG tanker ships managed by Seapeak Maritime (Glasgow), which are co-owned by Seapeak LLC, with HQ in VANCOUVER !!! Such fossil exports fund its barbarous war against Ukraine.πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

Great point. And one more excellent reason for Canada to accelerate support for Ukraine and strengthen sanctions on fascist Russia.

Indeed. You’ll be shocked to hear that FIFA is also a fan of fascist Russia.

National Service to Support Community and National Security: A preliminary outline of components, implementation, and costs A policy brief prepared for the Office of the Prime Minister for the development of a National Service initiative.

The article above mentions an August 2025 policy brief from the @cascadeinstitute.bsky.social outlining the parameters of a potential β€œNational Service initiative” (including costs). The aim would be to β€œengage Canadians in a whole-of-society response to a broad spectrum of emerging threats.” 37/x

Indeed. And two pension investment managers in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ directly own big % of Thames Water - widely seen as a massive cautionary tale, both about the privatization of utilities (which the UK did a lot of, and now regrets), and the investment in such utilities by pensions. OMERS owns 32% and BCI owns 8.7%.

Very true - the massive backlog of deferred maintenance + problems appears likely to take decades to fix. A big part of the problem seems to be the pension funds + other investors were taking too much $$ out - not leaving enough with TW for proper asset management. They had very different interests!

Resuming our 🧡 about the perils of LNG, this new report from @investors4paris.bsky.social details the $$ risks for investors, including pensions, which β€œare often heavily invested in LNG projects through private equity funds.β€œ ”In the LNG Casino, the game is rigged, and the equity holders pay.β€œ 5/x

Building on the above posts about how LNG is poison for people + the planet, here’s a great wayπŸ‘‡to tell the federal government and your local MP to stop funding LNG!!!

Outrageous indeed. And besides doubling down on climate arson, CPP Investment Board is cool with the Gestapo’s favourite firm, Palantir, and other fascist-friendly firms.
(As are BCI and other pension fund investment managers in Canada.)

Agreed. The various rationales offered are both incoherent and inchoate - devoid of any semblance of an over-arching strategy that would benefit US national security, let alone international peace and security. This is not just a war of choice, but one of narcissistic whim: "Because *I* can."

What a powerful mural at Ilia State University in Tbilisi: Ilia Chavchavadzeβ€”19th-century writer, statesman, and one of the architects of modern Georgian political identityβ€”walking toward a door painted as the EU flag.

One EU star is missing; Ilia holds one bearing the Georgian flag. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

His name was Hordiy Udovychenko.
He was killed on the night of March 7, 2026, alongside his mother Olena.
He was murdered by the russians for being Ukrainian, just as the Nazis assassinated Jewish children for being Jews.
And because we, in the West, did not want to take action.
Unbearable.
