Seattle, King County Leaders Promise Climate Action β€” Accountability Next Seattle and King County's new leadership promise climate action β€” from cleaner transit to more tree canopy β€” but South Seattle communities are watching for the data and accountability to prove it.

"We need to [be]...transitioning away from a car-centric transportation system and toward more dense, walkable, affordable neighborhoods. Not only are vehicles one of the major contributors to our climate crisis, they're also dangerous & are killing our neighbors" @cmeddielin.bsky.social 🎯 as always

Donald Trump cannot be trusted to lead America into war. He is unaccountable to America. He is lawless. He only seeks conflict to cover up for his failures.

Congress must step up, reassert its power, and represent the American people.

We do not want another forever war.

These attacks are unconstitutional, unlawful and already resulting in the cruel death and destruction of so many innocent lives. Congress must put an end to this madness immediately, before things escalate further, and we must all speak up and hold all our federal electeds to account.

The tens of thousands of domestic workers across Washington State deserve fair pay and safe working conditions. Their work, from nannies to house cleaners, is usually done by women of color and often goes overlooked and underappreciated.

Protect Domestic Workers Statewide
Learning From the Success of Seattle's Domestic Workers Ordinance

Dear Senator Pedersen:
I write to you in strong support of HB 2355 Establishing labor protections for domestic workers. This bill would provide clear guidelines to employers and protections for domestic workers in Washington State.
The City of Seattle's Domestic Workers Ordinance (DWO) went into effect in 2019, setting a minimum wage, mandating rest days, and providing additional protections for nannies, house cleaners, yard workers, and other domestic workers. HB 2355 would extend many of the same protections statewide.
…
I recently met with the Domestic Workers Standards Board of Seattle and heard from workers and employers who have benefitted from Seattle's DWO. One worker shared that fear is high among workers, however, their ability to educate coworkers and organize for protections statewide gives her hope and strength. One employer described the gratitude he and other employers had for the education and clarity in expectations from the City, especially regarding worker pay and hours. Attendees also highlighted the need for consistent protections and expectations across jurisdictions given the broad geography across which workers must take jobs.
The tens of thousands of domestic workers across Washington State deserve fair pay and safe working conditions. Their work, usually done by women of color, often goes overlooked and underappreciated. I implore you to prioritize HB 2355 and get workers and employers the protections and guidance they need to succeed.
Sincerely:
Eddie Lin

This new progressive revenue will help meet the needs of countless Washingtonians, makes our taxes more fair, and builds upon prior wins like Seattle’s corporate payroll tax and the statewide capital gains tax. And we know there will be more work to do, including defending this from attacks.

Such an exciting day. Passing the Millionaires Tax is monumental to fixing our upside-down tax code. And it wouldn’t be happening but for many years of advocacy at both the state and local levels. Thanks to @fusewashington.org @eoionline.bsky.social @budget-policy.bsky.social to name a few.

It’s critical for the City to commit to continue funding these positions for at least the 2026-27 school year, to allow time for the City to work with the new Superintendent, the Seattle School Board and our school communities before making any drastic changes in our investment approach.

Next year’s school-based budgets are being developed currently, and uncertainty about whether the City will continue to fund these types of positions in the 2026-27 school year is causing enormous stress and anxiety for many of our highest-needs schools.

FEPP-funded programs & staff are critical to equitably support our students who are dealing with so much stress and uncertainty. From housing instability to gun violence and masked federal agents, there are many frightening issues. We must continue critical supports funded by the FEPP Levy.

Opponents of the Millionaires Tax want you to think there's a spending problem. Well, recent state budgets are historically low relative to our collective ability to pay.

Building dense, walkable, rollable, transit-rich and amenity-rich neighborhoods (and transitioning away from car-dependence asap) is critical to our climate goals and climate resilience, and how we increase affordability, safety, tree canopy, address segregation, and help support salmon and orcas.
