My statement on the recent news in Iran:
I've worked across the aisle to expand health care and lower taxes, and when we win this race I'll keep fighting to get costs down and bring real representation to Southwest Michigan.
I'm proud to have Congressman Jason Crow's endorsement in this race. He's won tough races himself and he goes to where the fight is β and he also knows one of those fights is here in #MI04, where Bill Huizenga has failed our communities while enriching himself and his billionaire backers.
Trumpβs first tariffs werenβt just unconstitutional they were a disaster for working families. Bill Huizenga had a chance to stand up to them the first time, but he failed, and Michigan families paid the price. Here we go again.

This past week, I held a listening session in Holland with over 80 people.
I heard concerns about utility costs, health care affordability, election security, protecting Lake Michigan, and many others issues.
I will continue to always show up and listen to you.
Showing up and listening to people is a basic and fundamental part of the job of an elected public servant.
I do this now as a State Senator, and I will continue to as your next #MI04 Congressman.
Bill Huizenga has rubber stamped Trump's reckless actions, abandoning his constituents to rising costs of goods from coffee to ground beef. In Congress, I will fight to lower your costs and protect the Constitution.
The Constitution clearly states that the power to impose tariffs belongs to Congress. I am glad that SCOTUS recognizes this and decided to uphold the founding document of our great nation.
The Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center is an iconic and important facility in Battle Creek. It once housed a VA hospital that treated wounded veterans, and now serves a vital role in supporting our military and is critical to national security and SW Michigan.
We need to protect it.

The Trump administration just added another 3 months to the lifespan of the aging JH Campbell coal plant. This means another 3 months of higher utility costs for Michigan families and another 3 months of coal pollution poisoning our environment.

I look forward to continuing to fight for Southwest Michigan.
I'm grateful to have Leader Winnie Brinksβ endorsement in this race. I am proud of the great things weβve accomplished for working families across Michigan from free school breakfast and lunch, to key tax breaks for seniors and working families, to the I-131 Connector Loop.
My statement on Bill Huizengaβs vote to continue Trumpβs disastrous tariff policy:
Matt and I both went into public service to fight for working families and I look forward to continuing that fight for Southwest Michigan in Congress.
I'm proud to have State Representative Dr. Matt Longjohnβs endorsement in this race. He has been a great partner in the legislature as weβve worked to lower costs, expand health care access, and make Michigan a better place for families.
I join both Republicans and Democrats in rejecting this unconstitutional call to nationalize our elections. The right to vote is sacred, and our states are on the front lines of keeping our elections free, fair, and secure.
Yesterday, I spoke with Dan Evans at WHTC about my campaign for #MI04. We spoke about the effects of the Big, Ugly Bill on health care coverage and how chaotic tariffs are raising prices on everything from ground beef to cars. Listen here: bit.ly/4amMArh
Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent, we can all agree that there must be accountability for all involved. This is another example of why we need new leaders in Congress who will stand up, tell the truth and bring change to a broken system.
Peaceful Americans exercising their constitutional rights are being violently attacked by agents of the federal government. This has no place in our United States of America.
In the last 48 hours since the death of a second American citizen at the hands of federal agents, the Trump Administration has consistently lied to the American people. They claimed Alex Pretti was brandishing a weapon when we can see with our own eyes he did no such thing.
Iβm so grateful to have her support, and look forward to joining her in Congress to fight for the 4th district to deliver lower costs and expand health care access.
Congresswoman @hillaryscholten.bsky.social knows thereβs more that unites us than divides us and that it is critical that we put people above partisanship. She has always shown up and delivered results for West Michigan.
The news of another killing in Minnesota by ICE today is horrific. There must be a full, independent investigation into this shooting, as well as the death of Renee Good. Everyone involved must be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
I'm proud of my record defending reproductive freedom and restoring the protections of Roe in Michigan. In Congress, I will never stop fighting for women to be able to make their own medical decisions.
53 years ago Roe became the law of the land, a huge step in the right direction in giving women the right to make decisions about their own bodies.
Itβs been 4 years since Trumpβs SCOTUS overturned that decision, just one of the many countless attacks on our fundamental rights.
In 2010, Citizens United made it so billionaires and corporate special interests could buy our elections. 16 years later, the disastrous consequences couldnβt be clearer. Iβm running for Congress to represent people, not special interests. Itβs time to #EndCitizensUnited.
Today we commemorate the legacy of MLK Jr. As he said, βthe ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.β In all this chaos, we must stand up against injustice.
It was inspiring to hear from Congressman James Clyburn today in Battle Creek for the Second Missionary Baptist Churchβs MLK community prayer breakfast. His message of finding common ground with others is more important than ever.
I've helped expand health care access to over 750,000 people across Michigan. We need to restore health care coverage, not revoke it! (2/2)
On January 1st, the ACA tax credits expired after DC Republicans refused to renew them. Since then, 40,000 people so far in Michigan have not renewed their health care coverage because of the cost. (1/2)
