The Writing Framework has just been published, and I'm very pleased to have been part of the sector panel which helped produce this important document.
I'm optimistic that the framework will help leaders to further develop the teaching of writing in their schools.

Interesting article. Lots of focus on evidence in education until the evidence doesn't actually show what you want it to show. For the additional funding you'd want to see clear evidence but it all seems rather fudged when it comes to MATs.

"AI will replace all the jobs!" Is Just Tech Execs Doing Marketing - SparkToro
Over the weekend, I went digging for evidence that AI can, will, or has replaced a large percent of jobs. It doesn't exist. Worse than that, actually,
"AI will take all our jobs!" π€ It turns out that's mostly just marketing hype. Automation and technology have come and gone, and humans do what they do best: adapt.

Why oral language is the key to learning to write
Building childrenβs oral language, along with their motor skills, will make the challenge of learning to write less intimidating, explains Julian Grenier
'By prioritising talk and movement before pencil and paper, we can give every child the strongest possible start - and a reason to say βyesβ to writing.'

Duolingo CEO says AI is a better teacher than humansβbut schools will exist βbecause you still need childcareβ
Duolingo replaced its contract workers with AI. Now its eyes are set on schools.
AI in education shouldn't be about replacing teachers or using them for childcare, but empowering them, freeing them from repetitive tasks, letting them focus on what they do best: mentoring, inspiring, and building vital human connections, what we are good at!

After SATs: Why I Wonβt Be Going Off Timetable
Thereβs often a familiar pattern that emerges in many primary schools the moment Year 6 SATs are over. Often, in some schools the core curriculum gets packed away, and out come the cross-topic themes, five pound challenges, and sprawling projects that blur every subject into one. Iβve heard it called a βcreative releaseβ, βenrichment timeβ, and even βSATs detoxβ. But for me, Iβve never enjoyed them or quite seen the logic in pressing pause on structured learning at the exact moment children need it most.
