'FRP' was briefly in the early-mid 80s a fashionable way to talk about what became standardised as 'RPG'. See Dragon, Games & Puzzles etc. Fantasy i.e. "imagination" rather than genre - Scifi / Horror / Superhero RPGs classed as FRP.
I think the attachment of "Fantasy" occurred in WFB2 when they split W:MCRPG into W:FB and W:FRP. IIRC the 'in development' scifi game was still Rogue Trader, and not Warhammer at that point, but worth checking old WDs for.
