One example is the handling of what the central conflict should be. RJ was clearly not interested in a rehash of the "evil wizard puppet master" plot line set up with Snoke. So he just killed him off ignominiously.
RJ's ideas were more interesting than Snoke, but the result was schizophrenic

The Last Jedi had many interesting ideas but tried to shoehorn them in regardless of whether it meshed with TFA.

Some worked, some didn't. Result was an interesting mess.

All in all a mid movie that people exaggerate in either direction for the sake of the culture war.

That isn't what the guy in the slightest. Y'all proving bogost right about games being for children by having to whip up ridiculous strawman arguments to avoid dealing with extremely mild critical analysis of the expressive abilities of games versus other mediums.

That said, games do offer unique capabilities for artistic expression (as bogost mentioned) and game narratives that lean into those strengths can compensate for their inherent limitations.

Example: SOMA's narrative works better in a game because of it's themes of perspective and identity.
