Frankie Cain, who died Monday, inspired one of my favorite pieces in The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Storytellers, and that was the story of his idol, Mephisto. He later took Mephisto as his own name later in his career and he and Buddy Rogers considered Mephisto the greatest worker ever.
I learned more from talking to Frankie than anyone I’ve ever interviewed in wrestling. He had personal stories about Londos, for heaven’s sakes. Brilliant, good man.
