The nurses at Marie Curie do amazing work providing end of life care. I know first hand how important this is considering the end of life care that my father received.
It was great to meet with some of them in Parliament this week and congratulate them on their hard work.

As C4's Dirty Business has shown, our water companies are taking us for a ride. They need to go further to clean up our seas and our rivers, and I am working hard alongside other MPs in the region to hold South West Water, and the Government, to account. #Torbay #Torquay #Paignton #dirtybusiness

Steve Darling MP kneels in front of a poster which reads 'Animals Low-welfare activities abroad act' and details how captive elephants are subjected to extreme cruelty. He holds a sign saying 'I support the implementation of the Act'
Elephant riding, cub petting and captive dolphin shows often involve significant cruelty, such as separation of young animals from their mothers, confinement, physical punishment and exposure to chronic stress.
The Government must bring forward activity regulations to protect animals.

A graphic with text that reads 'save the high street'
Community businesses have been continually neglected by this Government, and those in Torbay desperately need support.
The Government should be backing the Liberal Democrat plan for an emergency VAT cut for hospitality until April 2027 to save our high streets.

Fly-tipping is an urgent national problem. The latest annual statistics show around 52,000 incidents nationally were the size of a 'tipper load lorry' or larger, which marks an 11% jump from 47,000 in 2023/24.
We need stronger enforcement to clamp down on criminal waste.

MPs criticise behaviour of senior DWP officials over carerβs allowance scandal
Top DWP civil servant accused of giving out βa lot of blancmangeβ over departmentβs response during hearing
Many carers are still suffering from debts due to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) incorrectly calculating their average earnings. I have questioned the top Civil Servant at the DWP about this, and will be pushing for carers to receive proper support.

Yesterday marked the 4th Anniversary of Russia's Second Invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine is the shield of liberty for Europe and we should be doing all we can to support them and end this war.
That is why I went to Ukraine this week as a show of solidarity and why I will keep pressing the Government.

Keep Children Safe Online
Back our plan for film-style age-rating to ban harmful social media for under 16s.
'Film-style' age-ratings should be used to ban harmful social media for under 16s. This is the only sensible solution to the problem of harmful and addictive content.
If you want to show your support for this policy you can sign our petition here: www.libdems.org.uk/ageratings

One of the best parts of being an MP is getting to hear from our younger generation. I attended Hayes School in Torbay where I met with Mark, the headteacher there, and students on the school council.
We discussed supporting mental health in schools as well as cars speeding on Hayes Road.
