Yeah, i couldn't find a plastic free electric kettle. Hopefully she's OK with a stovetop instead.

If you've been in survival mode for ages, this lends itself to ways of thinking & patterns of behaviours- habits that help you survive.

Later, if the need for survival goes away, habits can remain- habits that were once helpful can become unhelpful. Important to notice this & be kind to yourself.

Best i could do last time i looked was this. No plastic in the heating area, but still some around the lid & in the base. It's 12 yes old now. 100% plastic free week be a challenge!

New tank will have dwarf cories. I'm getting prepared.

Meanwhile, the established nano is looking pretty scruffy. Over the new tank is all done i think I'll give this one a make- over.

Fish & shrimp are pretty happy though.

I moved closer into the city a i hate having to drive, and i love cycling everywhere. Ironically, the biggest downside is the noise and pollution from all the cars, and the rattling old trams.

Superglued some plants today and filled her up. Despite a pre-soak, the wood is still a bit floaty, so pestle to the rescue.

A bit of pond water & those seasoned sponges should kick start the cycle. Threw in a couple of snails.

Next up, more plants.

Biofuels are profitable products that *feel* like a more ethical choice. Even knowing the below, I feel guilty not using E10 to fill up my fossil car.

The real best choice is not driving, and that requires a big rethink of how we organise society. *That* is a change that will destabilise power.

I do not disagree.

Hysteria, sure, it's a loaded word. It seems to fit the commentary I'm referring to, being people claiming the Aussie submariners are committing war crimes, and that we're now in WWIII.

Would "hyperbolic" be more appropriate?

I don't see either Possum or myself blaming anyone for anything.

The US govt is breaking international law. Yup. No argument.

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

Having to put on clothes that reek of someone else's gross sweaty shoes is a deeply unpleasant experience.

I'd rather not encounter it weekly.

A non-negligible number of the males who cycle to my workplace find it acceptable to put their shoes in the drying cabinet, even when other people's clothes are already in there.

No women or men of colour do this. White Aussies, we are failing at teaching boys basic consideration for others.

The left wing hysteria is out of control at the moment. I think the national conversation level needs to lift, so people can build understanding. How you do that with high distrust & fractured intimation, however, is beyond me.

Oh nice! I do like flowy spaces, though understand it can be harder to furnish when not rectangular.

Mmm, biosolids.

Incineration is an interesting choice. Not got enough to destroy any PFAS contamination, and also not reclaiming nutrients for reuse, but it does address volume issues and generate energy.

That would be so hard. I'm glad you're getting that validation at last. Sending warmth your way.

Peru. I went once with a friend who was keen, and it called me back so keenly i ended up working there for 14 months. That experience changed my life.

Pauline Hanson is not challenging the elites, she’s one of them. She’s using her position to protect her own interests and back her billionaire mates.

While she distracts with division, the battlers and people she says she stands for are being left behind.

You can't just go & destroy things & expect those people left to rebuild something better. The destruction has incalculable human cost- widespread trauma & grief, wounds & scars that will last generations.
