#InterviewWithTheVampire π©Έ
I need to party with the IWTV writerβs room. Like this is FUN
since the other place is down, Iβm singing the praises of Mickey 17 here as well. The script is a little nutty and all over the place but I had FUN with it because at its core is this really compelling love story. Thatβs the engine of this film.
okay diva
In closing:
Yes, itβs not that deep.
Yes, Iβm overthinking this.
And her look couldβve been going for a contemporary take on the 60s look and if thatβs the case, throw this thread out lol
Again, the work of the hair and makeup teams on the film is still great overall!
With all that being said, I think this look from the trailer is great with the addition of the scarf as that wouldβve been on trend, which means we could see more looks that signal 60s. I think a heavier curl and little more lift would make it perfect.
I think when thinking about period piece hair, we have to think about how it wouldβve been achieved. In the 60s, roller sets or pin curls were it. Like magazines would regularly feature roller set patterns for specific hairstyles that could be done at home.
Even with her hair a little longer, thereβs room to have volume with a curl. Another thing here is curls versus waves, as waves read a little bit more contemporary
The name of the game with 60s hair is volume. Big short hair. Big long hair. Just big hair. So she wouldβve loved a strong curl or flip at the bottom with a little bit of volume at the top.
If weβre pulling from the comics, a slightly longer bubble cut with flipped ends would be perfect. Itβs chic and glamorous while still being practical for being a superhero.
Getting the obvious of the way. Yes, this is βretro futuristicβ and they could not be from βthis universe.β However, the rest of the characters do adhere to aesthetics based in the 60s of this universe, so Iβm operating under that assumption.
Letβs set the table.
The film takes place in the (early?) 60s, similar to the start of the comics. This is what her hair looks like in the trailer. I assume thereβs a time jump in the movie because her hair is different lengths, but she maintains shoulder length loose waves (could also be curls).
(Disclaimer disclaimer: this is in no way intend to demean the world of the hair and makeup teams on the film. They are the professionals who know the direction of the movie and Iβm just a random person lol)
Did this thread #overthere but hereβs what I thought Sue Stormβs hair would look like.
(disclaimer: this is just going off the first teaser and is subject to change with the release of the film.)
Iβve taken some time away from Culture Kitsch, but Iβve itching to come back. In this video, I explored the history and culture that surrounds Peanuts and Snoopy and why Gen Z, especially, has taken such a fondness to them.
Weβre so fucking back.
youtu.be/rA3qDNnavIo?...
Wicked, you are loved deeply by me.
The lighting in Wicked, you are hated deeply by me.
Oh?
Still havenβt watched the finale of Arcane because I feel like Iβm going to be pissed off.
I wrote about the expensive and endless Wicked (and Barbie) marketing and how it's often prioritized a white, upper-class consumer β and how this rising Hollywood standard impacts small and independent films that often center talent of color. www.huffpost.com/entry/wicked...
Iβve seen a lot of reactions to some people having criticisms of a certain movie and Iβm like βif you love it, why care if someone has critique?β
Iβve said that some of yβall arenβt real haters because you require constant reaffirming of your hater status, the same goes for the lovers. Yβall as lovers of something are too quickly swayed. Only an act of God could sway me from my loves. One person hating something I like does not move me.
Thereβs something to be said that the package, that contains lights that I bought to help with my seasonal affective disorder, has been lost. Thereβs a beautiful irony there. Or the universal is just saying, βwork it out, diva.β
Seeing Wicked on Tuesday. I technically was on the Gladiator II side of the Glicked campaign but Galinda and Elphie got my money first.
