So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion.
That's $1 billion per day.
$41,666,667 per hour.
$11,574 per second.
Thousands of lives lost.
People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

Not that it's any comfort whatsoever to enraged and grieving Iranian families, but I thought I'd point out there's broad disinterest on the part of the Trump administration in the lives of people here at home as well.
New in PN: The bombing of Iranian children is an unforgivable crime
"American disinterest in the lives of people abroad is a resource politicians use to justify cynical wars. It's hard to see on what moral grounds we claim a right to decide the fate of those about whom we clearly care so little."
βIt is up by 42% since hostilities began. American motorists are already paying over $3.40 for a gallon of petrol on average, around 50 cents more than on February 27th. In Europe prices of natural gas, of which the Gulf normally ships lots in liquefied form, are 92% higher than before the war.β
NYT: The video βshows a Tomahawk cruise missile striking a naval base beside the school in the town of Minab on Feb. 28. The U.S. military is the only force involved in the conflict that uses Tomahawk missiles.β

City officials in Corpus Christi, Texas, expect to reach a βwater emergencyβ within months and run out of water next year. That would halt jet fuel deliveries to airports, hike gas prices βand trigger a local economic disaster without precedent.β

".. The last few years have been a steady exercise in market humility. 'Oil canβt go negative.' It did. 'Russia will always be a reliable supplier of gas to Europe.' It wasnβt. 'Hormuz is too important to actually stop.' Until it did."

Salt water laced with cancer-causing chemicals, a byproduct of oil and gas drilling, keeps shooting out of the ground in Oklahoma.
Experts say it means even more wastewater is spreading underground, poisoning the stateβs water supply.

Belgium MP Paul Magnette: βNot one of our soldiers, not one of our weapons, should go for Trumpβs war in Iran. We must say no to Trump, like Spain didβ
In 2024, Donald Trump campaigned on two big promises: (1) he'd bring down gas prices; and (2) he'd not start any new wars.
In 2026, Donald Trump will cause gas prices to spike astronomically by starting a new war.
He's smartβand trustworthyβlike that.
Another day of interest on the tariffs Trump collected and refuses to give back. American consumers paid the tariffs, American taxpayers pay the interest on Trump holding onto the money as long as possible. Every day the bill goes up.
Vietnam War - 17 years/58,220 U.S. KIA;
Iraq War - 7 years/4,826 U.S. KIA;
Afghanistan War - 20 years/2,459 U.S. KIA.
So much for the United States' vastly overwhelming military superiority.
That was also true in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
AOC: The Pentagon has not passed an audit, and they are out here trying to kick people with disabilities off of Medicaid. It is corruption that is stealing from the public coffers β and that is the actual waste, fraud, and abuse.
AOC: They wanted to issue this statement as though weβre just going after these 30-year-old men on Medicaid playing video games in their basement, right? This was the narrative that we heard.
First of all, I think everyone should have healthcare in America, regardless of who you are
Screenshot of an X post by βNo Lie with Brian Tyler Cohenβ claiming Costco is demanding that Trump reimburse them for tariffs so they can refund customers. Below are two images side by side: the Costco Wholesale logo and a photo of Donald Trump looking at a phone while reporters hold microphones near him.
This is what all big companies should be doing.
HE CHEATED.
I question the intelligence of anyone saying this is false and voter suppression.
He's Putin's Puppet, and corrupt Russia has infiltrated our government on every level, and in both parties. The sooner we admit this problem, the sooner we can start fixing it. Until then, we are f****d.

TAPPER: You know that if you vote against an additional $50 billion of funding for operations in Iran, that vote will be cast as you voting against the troops.
CHRIS MURPHY: Come on. The American people do not want this war. If you support the troops, you should be voting against this war.
Chris Murphy: "I think it's likely the United States that carried out this attack on this school. I think it's unforgivable under any circumstances, but the fact this was one of our first targeting decisions speaks to the incompetence of our leadership at the Dept of Defense."
