As a Bowling Green fan, it's hard to feel bad for Miami, but that was crazy.
AAUP-OSU Statement on the Selection of Provost Ravi Bellamkonda as Permanent OSU President We are surprised and disappointed at the Board of Trustees’ decision to choose a new permanent university president without even consulting faculty, staff, and students. Ohio State’s system of shared governance - not to mention best practices in hiring university presidents - requires all of us having a say in the process. This hasty, undemocratic process starts this presidency on the wrong footing and sends the wrong message about our supposed shared values.
The speed and secretiveness of this selection follows a troubling pattern of institutional entitlement. The last few years at Ohio State under Ted Carter have been characterized by mass arrests, a chilling of free speech, allegations of covering up abuse, and now corruption. Why risk more public mistrust when OSU is already constantly in the news for the wrong reasons and there has been so much reputational harm? Now is the time to be more careful with decision-making and more accountable, not less.
In just the past two days, over 700 people–faculty, staff, students, alumni, as well as community members–signed our petition calling for a presidential search committee that reflects the democratic structure of the University Senate. That demand to be heard still stands. Going forward, we will continue to work to make sure that OSU faculty and others actually have a voice.
This rushed process has given us no time to consider or discuss the merits of Provost Bellamkonda’s elevation to the presidency, but we wish him well and hope for a successful presidency. If the new president wants to win the trust of the community, he should take immediate action to show that he represents a new era - repeal Ted Carter’s anti-free speech policies, listen to abuse survivors, and commit to greater transparency and authentic shared governance going forward.
And just like that, a new permanent OSU president!
Please read & circulate our statement.
We will continue to be active in creating space for the voices of faculty & the university community. We invite all faculty to join the chapter & all who want transparency & inclusion to work with us.
These EVs would have been built in Marysville. The administration's war on EVs has come to Ohio.
Why didn't I think of that?
Donald Trump is like if you took the worst aspect of people in each of the four most populous states -- "look at me, I'm a star!" (California), "everything is bigger in Texas" (Texas), "eyy watch it I'm walkin heeere" (New York), "[Florida cretin sounds]" (Florida) -- and combined them into one guy
Columbus!
Coming in clutch with the presale code. Thanks!
Now that we know the Ohio State Board of Trustees is meeting tomorrow at 9am to decide on next steps, it’s even more urgent that we get as many signatures as possible TODAY to send them a clear and strong message that EVERYONE wants an open, inclusive search process. Please sign and circulate!
So that's only like $120 per view
I know there are some plans for SUPs and sidewalks on 161 in that area, but as of today that definitely wins.
Also, Dearborn is a really nice city.
Every day of life under Trump is waking up to a headline like, “Wyoming is missing”
Some other great news in Columbus, Ohio today:
Municipal Court is FINALLY changing its policy about ICE, joining Common Pleas in banning Trump's Gestapo from its building.
You love to see it folks.
May have committed a war crime within their larger war crime for conducting a war of aggression.
Huh wonder what changed.
I am unable to go to jail, so I get out free.
"Sometimes schools just explode spontaneously, so who can say whether the US/Israeli attacks had anything to do with it?"
This really sucks.

Idk what the politically savvy thing is to say at this point, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a statement that doesn't even use the word "war" or consider the broader human implications of a regime change war.
And if this takes too long, get ready to lose your primary.
"as an institution" it is younger than I am. The only acceptable response is to abolish and put those responsible in prison.
fuck, I’m sorry, I can’t compete with this
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
In Ohio’s “Silicon Heartland,” tech companies enjoy lax regulation and tax exemptions while communities see increasingly unaffordable energy prices and environmental harms. buff.ly/jp0dMsb
A full circle moment for Emma Sears!
After playing 4 years at Ohio State, she decided to hang up her boots for good. An old coach convinced her to come back to the game and now here she is playing for the USWNT in front of her hometown crowd and the coach who inspired her ⭐
Been a great game so far, and it is great to get quality matchups in Columbus, but it is hard to hear the "USA" chants while we are fighting yet another illegal imperial war.
