itβs always βhow you can you opine on x when you have a degree in yβ when in reality the person theyβre talking to has degrees in x and y
Me: I did a bio degree and then a philosophy degree and now Iβm doing an interdisciplinary degree, does that make sense??
**seriously,,, does the concept of multiple degrees that are not in a single discipline just not make sense to some people??
why do all the worst people online not understand that itβs possible for someone to have more degrees than fit in their bio? Just had this convo on FB:
Me: I have a bio degree
Him: your profile says you do PHILOSOPHY of biology, so not real bio, ha!
Salt water laced with cancer-causing chemicals, a byproduct of oil and gas drilling, keeps shooting out of the ground in Oklahoma.
Experts say it means even more wastewater is spreading underground, poisoning the stateβs water supply.

reviewer 2 I sincerely apologize for my impatience and thank you for your service. Itβs a bummer I donβt know who you are and so canβt thank you personally and also that the editor didnβt listen to you!!
well damn guess which reviewer wrote a lengthy and supportive review that both recommended the paper for publication and was extremely helpful, and which one wrote an overly quick and dismissive one

the poli sci guy jumps in to defend the philosophers and even manages to use the word βontologyβ correctly. A third person begins their comment with βIβm not good at math, butβ¦β. All that is learned is that everyone fundamentally disagrees about everything and then they all amicably go out to dinner
you gotta love those classic meetings between economists and philosophers where the philosophers are like hey we really should accept a preference view of utilities in order to make our modeling decisions make sense & the economists are like why would we equate peopleβs utilities with what they want

am I right to think that if somebody makes a joke about wanting to shove me on the ground that is not actually a funny joke and probably a red flag??

Waiting for the administration to say the spike in gas prices isn't actually a big deal because so many Americans are losing their jobs and won't have to drive to work anymore.
When the US govt terminated the National Nature Asst, @phillevin.bsky.social + the author team were determined not to let that stop them.
They re-organized, set up an advisory committee, found fundingβ¦and now the brand new Nature Record is open for public comment. ππ³ππ²

someone was saying they thought maple syrup just came out of the tree, and itβs funny because we have a story about this in ojibwe
like, the syrup used to come out that way but people got lazy and fat so the creator thinned it out into sap so we wouldnβt take it for granted
If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.
ahh yes, the unicorn for which each of these men is perpetually searching: a woman who can make enough money to at least partially support his lifestyle, but with none of the personality traits required for her to make that money in the first place
It's easy to think of Boomer men as the guardians of "tradition." Yet surveys show GenZ men have more "traditional" ideas about gender roles. 59% of GenZ men, for ex, say men are expected to do too much to support gender equality, compared to 45% of Boomer men.
