It's a massive political liability for bicycling in Portland that we have so much new bikeway infrastructure and not enough people actually riding in it.

Folks like Rob are coalescing around an idea that could encourage folks to get on their bikes.

Americans: we live in a fallen stateβ€”embroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best

Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!

The few who planned depended upon the many who rode.

But the few kept forgetting that.

From the last Gilded Age to the present one, elite disinterest remains one of the greatest barriers to great and inclusive public transit. This 1929 ad makes the same argument we must make today. 1/

This weekend, the latest proposal to fill the large gap in Oregon's transportation budget was released. It includes devastating cuts to Safe Routes to School funding which helps make walking, rolling, & biking safe & accessible for students through investments in crossings, sidewalks & bike lanes.

Oregon’s housing production rules work similarly: you don’t have to do all the state’s stuff if you’ve found your own way to create lots of homes

(2) There's so much gravel in the painted bike lane on this ODOT facility. The road is deteriorating with every car that passes by. Decades of deferred maintenance and current transportation funding woes are a recipe for disaster. Who will pay for road and highway maintenance?

Pre-riding and cleaning today's bike ride route. A person in a car drove into the bushes and through a fence at this T intersection. When the tow truck driver pulled the car out, they left a mess of mud and plants in the painted bike lane and on the tactile strip at the crosswalk. Cars are messy.

shockingly people are capable of simultaneously,

1. Hating their government

2. Hating the people who bomb and sanction their country, making regular life impossible and murdering members of their family, even more

Sadly I believe the city of Portland has used zoning rules to destroy another outdoor eating space in our Neighborhood. www.pdxmonthly.com/eat-and-drin... I thought they had worked out the compliance issues years ago but it appears that the city is forcing them to tear it down.

once again I am asking: why is it seemingly impossible to comply with portland's new outdoor dining regulations? when's the last time you saw a business expanding outdoor seating rather than removing it?
