Protecting young people’s mental health requires serious, thoughtful action. I encourage my colleagues to return to the negotiating table and work with us to develop a real, meaningful, and comprehensive plan.

Our hearing on children’s online safety and privacy bills was tainted by pressure from Big Tech to protect their interests over the safety of Americans. My Republican colleagues say the Kids Internet Digital and Safety Act isn’t a perfect bill — I say it’s not even close.

Senator Markwayne Mullin being nominated to lead DHS does not end the need for vigilance. Congress will be watching closely, and we will not hesitate to hold this new leadership accountable if those same harmful practices continue.

Even when Democrats do not control the votes in Congress, accountability can still prevail when the three pillars of our democracy work together: Congress, the courts, and the community.
Today’s announcement that Kristi Noem will no longer serve as Secretary of DHS reflects what communities across this country have been demanding for months: accountability.
If you need assistance, please continue to contact the State Department and reach out to my office at (504) 288-3777.

No one should be left stranded in a time of crisis. The war in Iran is a terrifying situation for citizens abroad, and the current delays are unacceptable. I've sent a letter to Sec. Rubio demanding immediate action to bring Americans home safely.
Americans, including my constituents, are stranded in the Middle East and struggling to get assistance from the #StateDept.
Do you need assistance with a federal agency? My office is here to help.
I’m hosting a #CurbsideResourceFair to connect you with support for passports, taxes, legal services, veterans’ benefits, Social Security, and more. Join us on March 9th! Find more details in the flyer.
Happy #Holi! This week, people in #LA02 and across the world will celebrate this festival of light, color, and life. May the Festival of Colors remind us to embrace unity and look for light in the face of darkness.
This March, we acknowledge the battles women have overcome, celebrate the invaluable contributions they provide, and recommit to fighting for a more equitable future.
During #WomensHistoryMonth, we celebrate the generations of trailblazing women in #LA02 and across the country who have paved the way for advancements in justice and equality.
Honored to formally introduce Archbishop James Francis Checchio today at All Saints Church.
New Orleans is a city of deep faith and resilient people. We are blessed to welcome our new Archbishop and his leadership to the Archdiocese.
May God continue to guide his ministry.

Great to meet with our @entergy.com New Orleans team & LIHEAP recipients to discuss the importance of funding the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP is essential to helping our communities keep the lights on and stay safe during extreme weather. I’m committed to protecting it.
Today we remember Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed 14 years ago while walking home unarmed. He was only 17 years old. We must continue to seek justice for all victims of hatred and discrimination.
We discussed attacks on voting rights as we await a key decision from #SCOTUS in #LouisianaVCallais, ICE’s assault on our communities, and how we used a discharge petition to fight for extending #ACA tax credits to protect affordable health care. Listen now!
On our Black History Month episode of “What Makes America Tick?”, I sat down with Rep. Jeffries to talk about what’s at stake for our democracy.

Trump is lying about health care. He’s lying about grocery prices. And he’s justifying ICE’s attacks on our communities.
This State of the Union speech isn’t leadership; it’s lies and more lies.
SOTU— Snake oil anyone?
Oh, wow! 🙄 strongest economy?? Lower utilities? Where, Mar A Lago?? #SOTU
But once subsidies expired, expenses skyrocketed, putting essential care at risk. We’re here to show Donald Trump that affordability isn’t a “hoax,” it affects real people.
Tonight, Mike Friedman from #LA02 will be joining me as my guest for the State of the Union. After losing his job when a federal contract was abruptly canceled by Trump’s failed DOGE experiment, Mike turned to the #ACA marketplace for coverage.
Now, she is reunited with her beloved daughter, Tessie Prevost. May she rest in eternal peace, and may we continue to honor her legacy with courage of our own.
Dorothy Prevost was more than a witness to history; she shaped it. As a mother, she fought for her child’s dignity and education, and in doing so, helped secure opportunity and equality for generations of children who followed.
Dorothy Prevost was the embodiment of strength and courage.
As the last living parent of one of the four brave girls who desegregated New Orleans public schools, her passing reminds us how recent this powerful chapter in our city’s civil rights history was.

Though he was older than me, we both came up in the Cutoff, rooted in the same community that shaped our character and our faith. Bobbie was a steady presence in my life, one of my biggest supporters, always offering encouragement and strength.
My heart is heavy as I say goodbye to my dear friend, Bobbie Henry.
