I'm sure you will know a painted lady when you see one. The earliest I've seen one is at the start of April. They're migrants and quite large really ๐ฆ

Woodlark, Stonechat in the sun & a Hawfinch in the mist
Yearning for spring, migration & bird song. So it was a bit wonderful this morning.
A Hawfinch in misty woodland made it feel like it hadn't been a waste of time, despite no LS Wood as yet.
The fog & mist lifted to reveal several pairs of Stonechat & Woodlark, Yellowhammer, Linnets & Mipits ๐ชถ

This mist/fog lifted by late morning and it was glorious.
Spotted a Hawfinch atop a tree in the mist tho, so not all bad ๐

However, the reality doesn't match the forecast...๐ช
Just absentmindedly looked out the window, wondering what time it gets light, and it's already getting there ๐ณ๐ฅณ
Today was lovely in the garden for birds. 2 Goldcrests in the old Christmas tree, male and female Blackcap, and I love the flicky acrobatics of the Dunnocks ๐ฅฐ
