Humanist icons: celebrating the women who changed history
For over 130 years, women in the humanist movement have been a radical voice for progress. Our history is marked by stories of humanist women who had to endure accusations of ‘blasphemy’, ‘unwomanly’...
They risked imprisonment to pioneer access to birth control and legalise reproductive healthcare – making sure that women, not the church or state, would finally take control of their own futures. Today, we work to preserve those rights and continue their legacy.

If you must use Al (don't) or know someone who does and blindly believes whatever it says, before asking it a question, ask it why you shouldn't trust what it will tell you.

Édouard Vuillard, The Newspaper, 1896-98, showing a woman reading a newspaper in a decorated interior
If I were to recommend only a single exhibition in NYC right now it wouldn't be a big, splashy museum presentation but rather a small, ravishing show of Édouard Vuillard's early interiors at Skarstedt in Chelsea. Absolutely stupendous. Open through April 25 (thread) www.skarstedt.com/exhibitions/...

Two decades after one of the biggest art thefts in Brazilian history, the statute of limitations has expired. This means no one will ever face prison time for stealing five works by Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso in 2006.

This is a wood-block print of "Broadstairs" by Elwin Hawthorne from c.1931. When I first showed it online it was untitled but, after a while a follower identified it as being a view of Broadstairs which, once one knows that, is instantly recognisable! #ElwinHawthorne #Broadstairs

My photo shows part of a limestone wall panel carved in bas relief from the Fifth Dynasty mortuary temple of king Userkaf at Saqqara, Old Kingdom, 2465-2458 BC. It shows a Hoopoe, a crested bird with black and white wing pattern, and an ibis, with long curved beak, amongst papyrus plants in the marshes of the river Nile. My photo was taken in 2022 at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Lovely naturalistic relief of a Hoopoe and Ibis, carved by an Egyptian artisan some 4,500 years ago!

The Clarendon Building at twilight featuring its coloumns and a muse figure on the roof. The statute appears to be holding up the full moon, creating an optical illusion.
The perfect spot at the perfect time!
Thank you for this fantastic picture of the Clarendon Building, Kshitij Mohan 👏
