I don't know of any precedent for a British royal being placed under arrest in modern history.
Princess Anne has been in trouble with the law, back in 2002 when she was fined for having dangerous dogs (that bit two children) and speeding (other minor Royals have form here). But nothing like this.
Huge: BBC reporting that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested β on suspicion of misconduct in a public office (which would cover the sharing of confidential information and not any alleged sexual offences) #royals www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c7...
This is preying on my mind a bit. Jeffrey Epstein was not primarily a British scandal! So far we've removed a Prince from the Royal family, fired our US ambassador who was one of the most important political figures of the last few decades and banned the CEO of Barclays from the financial industry..
thank u to my colleagues at wordle
Secretary of State Marco Rubio approved the deportation of five student activists last year after receiving memos describing their participation in pro-Palestinian protests and their writings about the war in Gaza, according toΒ government documentsΒ unsealed by a federal judge on Thursday.

Questions about Gibbβs influence, and the BBC's independence, are being raised both inside and outside the Beeb.
βUntil Robbie Gibb & any other political appointee are removed we cannot possibly be truly trusted to be an unbiased organization,β one BBC staffer said in an meeting.
At its heart? A battle led by the BBC board and Conservative political appointee, Robbie Gibb, and BBC News executive Deborah Turness.
Not only over how to respond to the Trump edit, but over accusations of institutional bias in BBC news β something Gibb has long argued exists
We spoke with senior BBC figures to tell the comprehensive inside story of what happened inside the organisation β and a critical emergency board meeting β that led to the resignations of its top two executives.

Scottish journalists & politicians are asking questions about Reform's connections to the ADF.
βReform and the ADF are trying to sow division and are treating essential healthcare as part of their narrow-minded culture war agenda.β -- @gillianmacmsp.bsky.social www.thenational.scot/news/2554319...
"The ADF has chosen Nigel Farage to focus on, building up this ally who has the potential to be a JD Vance-like figure in the future."
Can the Christian group that influenced the overturning of Roe v. Wade bring its extreme views to the UK?

ICYMI: Our investigation on the American Christian anti-abortion movementβs expansion to the UK is in todayβs newspaper.
A conservative Christian group helped end the constitutional right to an abortion in the U.S. Now, it has taken its playbook to Britain. Here's how the Alliance Defending Freedom became an unlikely conduit between MAGA Republicans and the Reform U.K. party. nyti.ms/3KLqGol
A conservative Christian group that helped overturn the right to abortion in the US is now attacking UK abortion rights.
With the same tactics used to overturn #RoevWade, they're attacking abortion clinic buffer zones and gestational limits.

βVery often A.D.F. has operated under the radar, quite discreetly.β
ICYMI: our story on how Reform UK has been quietly working with an influential American anti-abortion group.
Who and where, exactly?
GB News and its CEO were also present for the free speech round table the ADF set up and invited Farage to host in July, but we were over wordcount !
Precisely what my American colleague who has reported on abortion for years said. The US was also complacent, thinking constitutional right to abortion was settled over there tooβ¦
Really good piece from Jane Bradley and co at NYT.
Earlier this summer Democracy for Sale revealed how anti abortionists, including ADF, were pumping money into the U.K.
Free Speech Union still hasnβt responded to our queries. Funny thatβ¦

Thank you for the kind words Henry. You wouldnβt believe the top level editorial b***ocks conversations we had !
Come for the journalism, stay for the public service of teaching British swearwords to Americans
The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.
Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"
www.nytimes.com/2025/10/13/w...
If you wondered why Nigel Farage turned up in US Congress in September speaking about "freedom of speech", this story has the answer
His appearance was orchestrated by a powerful American anti-abortion group that is trying to increase its influence in the UK by influencing the free speech debate
