When I said 'Kemi Badenoch is so partisan, under her the Tories would oppose puppies and kittens if Labour said something nice about them', I didn't mean it literally.

I still think about this a lot.
On the absurdity of setting UK interests by a Trump doctrine when not even the US national interest is served by the president www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
The President of the USA is now openly threatening Iran with being the target of one of the greatest crimes in world history. Trump is saying he will destroy the basis of life for more than 90 million people.
He should be removed from office for this.
The hype IS the product. Musk is an incompetent failure in most of his ventures - DOGE, Hyperloop, Twitter, happiness - and has had little measurable impact on the ones that are successful - SpaceX, Tesla. How he has become so rich is cos the hype IS the product.

FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
A photo of a miniature windmill on a crazy golf course.
You have to remember that windmills are the natural enemy of golfers. Thatβs why Trump hates them so much.
There was an air of seriousness in the House of Commons. Over the weekend, great events had taken place: the sweeping away of the hated Ali Khamenei from Iran, and of the scarcely less-hated Labour Party from Gorton and Denton. Earlier in the day, Kemi Badenoch had made a heroic attempt to link the two issues, claiming that Keir Starmerβs reluctance to get involved in Donald Trumpβs attack on Iran was because he feared upsetting Muslims. As though there arenβt any British Muslims who are glad to see the back of Khamenei, or indeed any other reason why a Labour prime minister would be nervous about a Middle Eastern regime-change operation run by a US president without a plan. However bad a job you might feel Starmer is doing, Badenoch speeches are a reminder that things could be worse.

Elon Musk Y @elonmusk X.com For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years.
SpaceX shifts focus from something that it will never do on Mars to something it will never do on the Moon.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Itβs fascism + surveillance technologies. Palantir is playing a central role. And the UK is next in line.

The film itself has the air of an expensive corporate video. Like everything involving Trump, there is cross-promotion. We are shown that Mar-a-Lago has a pool and a golf course and tennis courts, and then Melania tells us that Mar-a-Lago has a pool and a golf course and tennis courts. You too can enjoy a visit to Mar-a-Lago, with its pool and golf course and tennis courts, at low, low rates. Assuming you donβt get arrested on your way into the country. Melania, a producer on the film, delivers a narration that is flat and expressionless, neatly matching her face, which is remarkably smooth for her 55 years. It is also weirdly immobile throughout: it is a good hour before the camera catches what seems to be an actual feeling, a look of nerves as she prepares on the morning of the inauguration. There is one faintly candid interview, as she sits in the back of the car, discussing her love of Michael Jackson. βHe was very sweet,β she said. βVery nice.β Itβs possible that Mrs Trumpisnβt
Melania is a film that may end up being shown to a jury, though not at Cannes. I watched it so you don't have to. thecritic.co.uk/an-e...
