Very well put:
"when you bike over that Williamsburg Bridge, let me tell you, itβs euphoric,β Duwaji says. βBiking is really something that made me feel like I knew the city."

Prospect-Lefferts Gardens was gonna get its first protected bike lanes ever but in one final insult, Eric Adams' DOT kicked the project to next year, hopefully nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/12/22/a...
Somehow this one-off project team tells us far more about what's happening on Greenways than NYC Parks Dept
Gateway Tunnel folks are now saying West Side Greenway diversion at 29th/30th streets will begin in March, not Jan #bikenyc
Maybe in 13 days we will have an administration that will tell city employees not to illegally block #bikenyc lanes
@nycdot.bsky.social @nycsanitation.bsky.social I'm sure the almost 3,000 cyclists that were counted going over the Williamsburg Bridge yesterday would've appreciated the South 5th Street two way protected bike lane being plowed! Photo from this morning.
Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will appeal a Queens judgeβs order to rip out the 31st Street bike lane in Astoria, he told me at a presser in Greenpoint this morning.
He calls the decision βvery disappointing,β adding that he usually avoids riding on 31st because itβs unsafe.
More than 48 hours after the snow stopped, one of the busiest bike lanes in the system impassable or dangerous in large swaths.
Flushing Ave continuation of Kent Ave bike lane. It ends after I almost fell on ice and started biking in the road. #bikenyc @nyc-dot.bsky.social @nyc.streetsblog.org
A repost of our short showing blocked and narrow crosstown #bikenyc lanes. It is probably the biggest challenge on the streets of Manhattan to build ample sized lanes that aren't clogged by illegal parking making them unsafe.
And yeah, these were all filmed in one day. Not an unusual experience.
One surprising piece of research I found when writing the book was that while the number of kids biking & walking to school has dropped by a lot since 1969, the number of kids living within a mile of their school has only gone down by about 15%.
3rd Ave bike lane (so-called Brooklyn Greenway) unusable this morning. Some stretches cleared 1 lane wide in a 2 lane path but sidewalk not cleared so people walking in it.
Yesterday (storm) no bike lanes were cleared except for the bridges #bikenyc @nyc-dot.bsky.social @nycsanitation.bsky.social
The (few) usable stretches of the 3rd Ave bike lane (Brooklyn) look like this. Sidewalk not cleared, so people walking in the bike lane. Mostly biked in the road on the way to work. #bikenyc @nyc-dot.bsky.social @nycsanitation.bsky.social
Also, if you want to make useful bike path connections around here, do a real connection across Roosevelt to Flushing Meadows in place of this
NYC has been installing beautiful greenway bridges in a few sites around the city, but doesn't yet have the vision or wherewithal to apply them to safety problems like this
There are actually two highway crossing on this path, which basically connects the eastern end of 34th Ave with the Mets parking lot. Ability to see speeding traffic isn't as bad here (on ramp to s-bound GCP) but highway/bike path interfaces simply shouldn't exist
People attempting the frogger crossing if you're not familiar.
The people on bikes here can't really see the cars approaching at speed
Does anyone know if the "Hard Rock Metropolitan Park" plan would fix the *human frogger site* where a short bike path crosses a curve on a Bronx-bound Whitestone Expressway on-ramp?
The "bike paths" legend symbol ("O") conveniently obscures the spot in this rendering
@votejgr.bsky.social #bikenyc
Not unplowed but still shabby for Brooklynβs busiest bikeway #bikenyc
The greenway also doesn't serve local West Side trips very well, w limited access points & steep climbs to get from greenway to neighborhood at most points
This tragedy did not need to happen. There should be a wide protected bike lane on the west side of Riverside Drive. It's a heavily used route for cyclists going to the George Washington Bridge. Plus, making it safer would alleviate some of the pressure and conflicts on the greenway.
Some blocks of 9th Ave #bikeNYC look plowed.... others not so much.
"Community consultation makes better projects β DOT agrees with that β but thereβs just no way to get through the calendar faster, because the calendar is in large part dictated with this law..Itβs a shame to slow down a potentially life-saving program for something like that" @nyc.streetsblog.org
the #BikeBus shows how safety in numbers gives kids the chance to ride, learn, and build confidence on streets that would not feel safe alone. Protected bike lanes, diverters, and street designs that separate children from cars are what make this joy possible every day, not just on Bike Bus days.
Local activists have set this site up to help defend the Court St π² lane.
Enjoy!

Bike parking company Oonee is claiming that the city unfairly disqualified them from its long awaited secure bike parking program, accusing DOT of doing the program on the cheap.
One of these two streets in Hells Kitchen is wonderful to bike on with kids.
One is not.
Youβll never guess which one. (Ok ok. Itβs pretty obvious) #bikeNYC
"New Yorkers demand safe streets and it is clear that DOT and FDNY worked in this case to provide them. I urge the city to appeal this ruling immediately" - Laura Cavanagh
