It's a first for me, since taking over the allotment last year. I have a pond in my garden but have never had frogspawn before
Brifht yellow wallflower flower
Also for #GardensHour the sun came out at the weekend showing up some lovely wallflowers growing all along my back hedge
Frogspawin a pond, lined with black plastic and with wood round the edge
Hello #GardensHour lots of springly things happening in the garden but my big excitement is frogspawn at the allotment, in an otherwise uninspiring pond πΈ
Wow seals! Well done
Two moorhens with red beaks in among tall grasses in water
Pair of moorhens at Inverleith Pond. More important, still light at 6pm! #spring #SmallBeauties
Collage of 6 images: ice on a garden pond, open purple crocuses, bumblebee among the crocuses, yellow wallflower, thin stalks and buds of snakeshead frittilary, mini daffodils
Frosty night and ice on the pond this morning but the sun has come out for #SixOnSaturday crocuses, wallflowers, daffodils, first signs of snakeshead frittilaries and a huge bumblebee among the crocuses
Fair Isle onn the horizon in top right pic. Always lovely to see
Why is it always about parking? Crossing the road from Inverleith Park to the Botanics is still a nightmare for pedestrians and cyclists, despite promises, years ago, to put a pedestrian crossing in.
Wooden finger post pointing in two directions, to Thornthwaite and Whinlatter Visitor Centre. Attached to it is a triangular traffic sign with an image of a walker and the word 'Slow'
#FingerpostFriday from a couple of weeks ago in the #LakeDistrict This sign knew we were coming and moving rather more slowly than we used to π
View through a rainy bus window- yellow, green and red lights. Dark blue sky behind
It's still.not quite dark in Edinburgh but it's a bit damp. π #BestSeatOnTheBus

Dolls houses are wasted on children
My dad made one for me and my sister. We never really appreciated it at the time, not having those kinds of interests, but it was a lovely thing.
Purple crocuses opened up in the sunshine
@gardenshour.bsky.social #GardensHour crocuses finally appearing in the spring sunshine

Left hand holding a tiny snowman with stones for eyes and nose. In the distance you can see snow covered mountains
Missed #SmallBeautiesHour last week so this week here is a tiny snow creature β on top of a smallish #LakeDistrict mountain, with snow-covered Hellvellyn mountain range in the distance.
Thanks. It's a friendly little bird, often appearing when I'm in the garden
Oh the days of flexible tickets when you could break your journey and change your mind about your return date. Now you must get a particular train, with a particular company at a particular time, or pay a small fortune π€
Yes!
Collage of yellow, white and purple crocuses opened up in the sunshine and a Robin hiding in a twiggy hedge
The sun came out for a little while yesterday, opening up all the crocuses. There was a symphony of birdsong from the hedge, revealing the friendly garden Robin #SixOnSaturday
3 purple crocus flowers, finally opened up in the sunshine
Hello sunshine. #FlowersOnFriday
Small, worn, wooden fingerpost, pointing two ways. Behind is a brown bracken covered slope and, in the distance, a snow-capped mountain.
Old fingerpost, pointing towards snow covered hills. From a long weekend, catching some winter sun, in the #LakeDistrict #FingerpostFriday
Purple iris reticulata with yellow splashes, covered in raindrops. Other bulbs appearing along with self seeded strawberry plants and weeds
Nippy morning and a tiny touch of sunshine. Most flowers still hibernating but this iris has come up for #FlowersOnFriday #SmallBeauties
Pink, red and white roses in asmallglass vase
In themidst of this endlessly gloomy winter, here are some summer roses to remind us that summer will come again #roseWednesday
Magpie standing on a twiggy hedge
Very noisy magpies hauling sticks out of my hedge to make a nest. #spring #SmallBeauties
At my last heron sighting, a passer by told me it was hunting for rats and gave me a detailed account of a heron catching, drowning and eating a rat. π
Sunshine between big black clouds, shining through winter trees
Slight hint of big yellow thing in the sky, shock π #SmallBeauties
Collage of yellow mahonia flowers, 2 clumps of snowdrops, 2 bright yellow crocuses, a rhubarb shoot, a purple crocus pushing through green foxglove leaves
Lots of snowdrops for another damp #SixOnSaturday but also early rhubarb, mahonia flowers, 2 bright yellow crocuses and a purple one sneaking up through a foxglove plant
Needing a little sunshine before my crocuses will bloom
Thanks for these β
