I never hear neurologists or philosophers of consciousness talking about updating the configuration as being essential for consciousness. And I have a feeling that as soon as this happens in a new model, the argument will shift to another thing that the model doesn't do yet.
Why does the feedback loop have to be continuous, can't you have moments of consciousness while there is a short feedback loop? Why isn't there internal information?
