@paulajgriffin
No longer afraid to be myself. Goalkeeper for Clapton CFC, Goal Diggers, Peckham Town Women and anyone else who’ll have me! Living beyond cancer, with a stoma and with CKD - massive emphasis on the word “Living”
From my own experience I’m not aware of a single transgender footballer in the UK who has detransitioned because of the ban.
If as many transphobes claim we only transition to win medals and break records I’m sure they could discover at least one trans woman athlete who had since detransitioned because they can’t win.
Something I’d be interested to discover. As one of 20 trans women banned by the Football Association in England from playing soccer alongside my friends, I’ve no intention of detransitioning given I didn’t transition to play women’s sport I play women’s football because I transitioned.
I’m good. I drifted off twitter and on to threads but never really got Bluesky started. Mainly do Instagram these days.
Last year was matching at Pride just in front of the FA contingent who proudly carried a banner proclaiming “Football for All”. A number of the women in that group I’ve played with & against. 12 months it’s as if the pigs have been up the ladder with brushes and added “…for all BUT YOU!”
My usual place is the pitch, between the goalposts and being a total pain in the 🍑 to anyone who thinks I shouldn’t be there and a total queen the rest of the time!!
Threads www.threads.com/@paulajgriff...
As @bernietranders.bsky.social linked to this account I’d better get to work on resuscitating it! X account died a long time ago and you’ll mainly find me on
About time I kicked my #bluesky account into gear. FB suddenly seems to have decided I want to read lots of transphobia 🤷🏻♀️. Frustratingly Threads still gets me decent engagement but just needs the effort here I guess.
Thanks for the update to the information. It’s some time since I visited Majdanek though the memory of the place is still incredibly vivid. Watching the film & I could still smell the leather.
The showers at Majdanek where Jewish where herded into before their lives were snuffed out by Zyklon B gas. The blue stains on the walls come from that gas.
Thousands upon thousands of shoes left behind by murdered prisoners at Majdanek Concentration Camp. They are not behind glass and smell of ancient leather remains with me to this day.
The ovens in the crematorium of Majdanek concentration camp.
Under a vast concrete dome tons of earth containing the remains of the victims of Majdanek concentration camp.
Watched “A Real Pain” twice and thought it might be easier on second viewing but it doesn’t. Kieran Culkin’s performance is up there with the best this year but it’s the simplify of the film that resonantes. The scenes at Majdanek hit hard reawakening the sights & even smells of that place.
Most inappropriate Christmas present ever. I was 14 years old when my uncle & aunt sent me this. Given my sisters were already convinced I was either gay or “wanted to be a woman”, unsurprisingly 45 years later I actually still have the almost totally unused bottle somewhere.
Just completed my application for a London 60+ travel card. Yes, in precisely 14 days I will be the same age as Victor Meldrew when One Foot in the Grave began!! Really???
One was brought on by lifestyle, the other was something that was always with me. Yet critics have no trouble with one being covered by the NHS but not the other. Wonder why? #Transgender
In August 2022 I was diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria & earlier this year I had Gender Affirming Surgery. The lifetime cost is reckoned to be around £60k.
In September 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Bladder #Cancer requiring major invasive surgery to remove my bladder & insert a stoma. The longer I live the more it costs the #NHS, anything up to £250k
As someone with an “invisible disability” - stoma bag after major cancer related surgery to remove my bladder. In 7 years since that surgery & 5 since transition I’ve had more incidents using accessible toilets than the one I’ve had using female facilities.
Might be fresh off the football field & plastered in mud but #Nyckel knows who I am ❤️

The transphobes can’t stop me playing football but #StormDarragh can. Match with @peckhamtownfc.bsky.social Women off this morning due to the high winds.
Visibility matters. Genuinely moved to see these affirming portraits taken as part of a series celebrating queer bodies in sport & raising funds for Mermaids. A reminder that being #transgender should never stop you doing the things you love with the people you love.

#Transgender women should never be defined by the clothes we wear but by the people we are. Might be in my football kit but that doesn’t stop me being a proud defiant woman. Thanks to Maisy Banks for this stunning portrait 🥹
Looks like moaning about the Trafalgar Square tree is becoming a new English Christmas tradition
Didn’t take too long for #Threads to descend into the swamp of bigotry. Almost like a carbon copy of Twitter with low follower (& low IQ individuals) piling in like flies on a turd.
A #transgender woman played soccer with her friends yesterday. Unsurprisingly women’s sports wasn’t destroyed.
Had both those posters on my bedroom wall. Must have spent an age trying to recreate those looks though I never quite plucked up the courage to use the official Toyah hair dye from the fan club!
Powerful portraits from London’s fan-owned, anti-fascist football club @claptoncfc.co.uk - Roman Manfredi’s latest project explores WNB teams, encouraging viewers to mobilise against misogyny in football & beyond. Amazing to be part of this. #womensfootball www.dazeddigital.com/art-photogra...
What’s your sign?
Been there… well one of them anyway as there are a lot of Twatts around.
