My parents met protesting the Vietnam war, & prior my dad’s death from early onset Lewy body dementia, he attended peace protests every Saturday for over a decade in objection to conflicts in Afghanistan & Iraq. I hate war so fucking much—And I wish there were more people like my dad in the world.
It’s one of my all time favorite titles too!
Picking up your phone is like walking into a room and forgetting why you went in there, but you stand in that room for an hour.
Hearing reports that the Pats losing Super Bowl LX is what finally reunites us as a country.
Wait it's series?!?! Too good to be true!
Somehow this ice dancing movie is EXACTLY what I needed right now. Don't even care if it's a ripoff of The Cutting Edge.
Does anyone know if there's simple desktop app to keep a running tally of something? My hope is to press a button that makes a pleasant noise and gives me dopamine rush each time I respond to a submission, keeping track of how many I've reviewed over the year.
Chilling.
I totally agree, AI copy is a no-go for me.
Yeah, I think in that scenario it might be best to focus on specific improvements to the copy vs. the reasoning behind any issues.
That's a good approach! Just to extend the hypothetical slightly, what would you do if it wasn't something that takes a credit? Like, say, an editor wrote cover copy for your book and it had an artificial feel to it. Would you say anything?

Obsessed with the shirt tail becoming a cat tail
Are we ready to talk about the 25th amendment yet? Asking for a country.
Thank you for this ray of sunshine 🥹
Reposting as a reminder to myself as much as anyone else.
I wonder if it partly boils down to trends among classmates too. For my kiddo, there was a social aspect around the Warrior cats that made it more desirable to read and compare notes.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.
Lately, the thing we talk about is slowing down and absorbing the words regardless of format. He recently finished a graphic adaptation of Watership Down in like an hour and I was like, hang on...
My stepson seems to alternate pretty freely these days. There was a slight reluctance to read text only at first, but once he got comfortable with it, I was surprised how quickly he took off devouring more.
Happy New Year, kidlit community! I spent the last few weeks reading no news and The Golden Compass out loud with my family and this is the world I want to stay in forever.
Have you read anything you loved lately?
I agree. I do think we need vocabulary for encouraging kids who primarily read graphic novels to take a chance on long-form prose, but they are such an invaluable tool to get those same kids excited about reading in the first place.
So happy to see the new Lauren Castillo on here 🥰
Good night and good luck… to CBS’s integrity
Listen, I’m not saying you’re wrong, but petty revenge bombs are DEFINITELY a part of what Survivor is all about
Just chiming in that this story is making the rounds across different media channels so I presume the Guardian is including because a. it's everywhere and b. their readers agree with her
Hey @michaelhobbes.bsky.social and @notalawyer.bsky.social, maybe we need an update episode on this dude’s shameless pivot from scammy self help books to a scammy AI chatbot
