This should be WA's economic development strategy. Pour money into K-12 public schools, child care, higher ed, research. Triple down on brain gain. Set us up for the next big thing.

Instead...Dems in #waleg and @governorferguson.bsky.social want to slash higher ed, K-12, child care.

The rich always threatened to leave if you tax them. They never do. #taxtherich TikTok video by Ron Davis

The billionaires are bluffing. Tax increases in MA, CA, NJ, and Seattle were all met with “the rich and the jobs will leave” and yet they all grew substantially anyway.

Don’t buy the BS. Pass the millionaire tax, with no cuts for mega corporations or giant estates.

As the article notes, Sen. Jesse Salomon blocked this bill from even being heard in the Senate Local Government Committee.

Salomon is being challenged for re-election in the 32nd LD (N. Seattle/Shoreline) by his seatmate, Rep. Cindy Ryu, who is a cosponsor of this bill.

We cannot normalize this federal occupation of Minneapolis.

It is not normal to watch people abducted in front of our eyes—dragged from car windows, pulled from their homes, and children left without parents.

This is not about immigration. It’s about unchecked cruelty.

My First 72 Hours in Minneapolis and How I Got an ICE Agent to Scream “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” The activists on the ground are doing the work, that should give you hope.

"Here are the demands we all need to make: Use the National Guard to protect our citizens. Arrest agents who commit crimes. Charge police, National Guard, and ICE with crimes when they commit or refuse to stop them. . . . Do it now."

What we are witnessing is the result of a society whose red line wasn’t genocide.

When people can excuse that, it’s an indictment.

WA lawmakers, make this the year to draw a line on spending | Editorial One year after raising $12 billion in new taxes, lawmakers must not repeat the same costly mistakes that led them to this moment.

So much is absurd in this editorial, especially the idea that we don't need new spending even in the era of Trump and DOGE. Particularly flawed is the point about school funding. The current system isn't working -- but that's because the amount being spent is inadequate.

Masked ICE agents, it seems, are now killing American citizens on American streets.

Any Democrat who doesn’t support abolishing ICE should be instantly primaried and run out of the party.

This is non negotiable. You cannot support the continued existence of this fascist murderous secret police.

Nope. The way out isn’t to hack away at pieces of the system. That’s austerity thinking that gets us nowhere. Instead we need to 1) bring construction costs down closer to European levels and 2) provide ST with more resources to build the system voters approved.

Washingtonians want legislators and Governor Ferguson to balance the state budget with progressive revenue, not more cuts The governor told reporters at a December media availability he plans to propose a supplemental budget for 2026 that relies on cuts to balance, with no new revenue.
