The Trunk Nebula. ~3,000 light years
New IC1396 processing (7 hours total exposure)
I reworked the Trunk using MAS (MultiscaleAdaptiveStretch) for the stretch... this new tool is very powerful indeed. I was able to recover quite a bit of detail and bring out more depth in the image. #Pixinsight #MAS 🔭

This is a fascinating piece of the night sky to me. NGC2024 (Flame Nebula) plus the Horsehead nebula seen from near Cambridge, UK tonight. The scale of these objects really surprises me, though we can't see a trace by eye! 2 hours integrated, full moon though 🌕 @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Wide field astrophotograph of the Rosette Nebula showing a large circular cloud of glowing gas in space. A bright turquoise core sits at the center, surrounded by a ring of pink and red hydrogen clouds forming a near perfect round shape. Dark dust lanes cut through parts of the nebula, and hundreds of small white stars are scattered across the black background.
Rosette Nebula : A universe within a circle. Stellar winds sculpt light into a cosmic ring.
Central cluster’s radiation is so intense that it hollowed out the nebula’s core, creating this 100 light years bubble.

The spiral galaxy M 94 in Canes Venatici is an easy object to observe due to its bright centre with an inner ring of young stars. This photo, which I took over 3 nights in January with an exposure time of 12 h, also shows the faint outer ring of stars. #astrophotography 🔭

Sunflower Galaxy (Messier 63) is in the center of the photograph. There are some diffraction spikes on the brighter surrounding stars.
Good weather for #astrophotography last weekend. I needed to test some adjustments to my usual setup and ran a small imaging plan on Sunflower Galaxy.

I added 8 more hours to my M51, whirlpool galaxy data which puts this image right around 16 hours total. I don’t think I can squeeze out much more detail with my equipment even if I gathered more data. Hope you like it! #astrophotography #astronomy @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
