There are not words to describe the relief one feels when the phone turns back on after getting dropped into a rain puddle a few hours ago. π« Lord, I know I need to disconnect and relax: but NOT. YET. Okay?

Trumpβs first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.
Iβve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9
I see authors sheepishly announcing books, or apologizing for good news.
Friends: weβre enduring an onslaught of censorship and bigotry. I am PROUD that you wrote anything. Please yell about what you're doing. Art is a fuel to keeps many of us going.

The world a character exists in shapes their identity on many axes of power and privilege. So how do those scales affect the emotional stakes of the story they find themselves in?

Right now it is snowing in Georgia. My dad is singing Christmas carols as loud as he can to our dog who is curled up on his lap.Tonight we will probably watch White Christmas in January, and I wouldnβt trade any other day for the one Iβm receiving right now.
Doing the research is hard and sad and it all feels overwhelming. But again, please remember, a dementia diagnosis does not mean the end of your happy memories with your parent.
If you surround your parent with the support they need at the various stages of the disease, they can still thrive and find happiness in small places during their remaining days.
What I really wish everyone to know in the event you ever have a parent diagnosed with dementia is this:
The worse days do not arrive immediately. Between The and Now there will be days of such joy, levity, and beauty. Stay present in the moment.
Tired: Writing about New Year's resolutions and self-improvement goals.
Wired: Asking compelling writers who've cracked the code on productivity how they did it and what they recommend.
Inspired: Checking in with incredibly prolific author @wiswell.bsky.social, and getting a slew of neat tips.
I donβt do resolutions because I fear setting myself up for disappointment later, but I do themes.
The theme for 2024 was to Heal, particularly from prior workplace trauma. Thank you to all who have been part of that.
The theme for 2025 is going be Build.

Shesheshen said, "One of two things is going to happen tonight. I could eat every piece of you that you don't need to stay alive, until there is nothing but a fleshless bundle of organs and prime bones. Then I will swallow your still-sobbing self inside of my flesh, and keep you alive, and make your mouth my own. I will hunt your family down and work your jaw such that I eat them with your own mouth. Only when there is nothing left of you will I swallow you and let you weep in an oblivion of stomachs.
