@horfieldorchard.bsky.social I came to visit your orchard when we were developing our ideas. Hard to believe that must have been about 23/24 years ago. We planted our first trees in 2003.
@bowlingparkorchard
Developed in 2003 on six disused allotment plots next to Bowling Park. Over 40 fruit trees planted and 20 years of community engagement including Bradford Apple Day. More info at https://bradfordymca.org.uk/services/environmental-education/

Juicing at Culture Fusion
Juice flowing into the jug
Pasteurising juice
It's been a busy week at the orchard. We juiced 250kg of apples, and pasteurised most of this for sale.
This morning we took advantage of great weather for a nematode application (ie we got soaked to the skin), in an attempt to control the Codling Moth population. Too wet for photo evidence!
Weβre looking forward to the25th anniversary of#bradfordappleday

Often overlooked, the humble dandelion has a vital part to play in providing valuable nectar for early butterflies and moths, as well as food for their caterpillars.

In March 2003 we planted over 40 trees including
35 varieties of apple,
6 pears and
4 plums.
The orchard was developed on six disused allotment plots adjacent to Bowling Park, we were asked to get involved to help improve the site and engage the local community in itβs ongoing development.
