@hawthornewriter
I tried publishing my 1st novel when I was 12yo. It took a few years...but my 3d, HER DAUGHTER, has just been published by Black Rose Writing. (in between I wrote 8 nonfiction books, won awards, wrote a lot for newspapers & magazines etc)

I'm heading to #AWP2026 in #Baltimore today. If you're nearby, please stop by the #StoryCircleNetwork Table 885 on Fri from 10:30AM to noon where I'll be signing copies of my new novel HER DAUGHTER & talking generally about... whatever! #BookSky
Hmm, maybe I could start a series of bios of failed VP nominees. William E. Miller, for instance. (1964) Joseph T. Robinson (1928)...
Is writing a novel different if you're an American living in a foreign country like #SouthKorea? (I'd love to try!) Writer-colleague Ron Roman talks about life abroad & his thriller "Of Ashes and Dust" in the "CC&JT podcast" carsonhume.com/2026/03/01/r... #Booksky
Happy Pub Date to my friend Shannon McKenna Schmidt for her newest book "You Can't Catch Us"--an inspiring (much-needed) story of Lady Bird Johnson's 1964 whistle-stop tour of the South to campaign for #LBJ & for Civil Rights. #BookSky #history #politics #civilrights
Great talk by Prof. Joseph Luzzi of #BardUniv at #nyhistory.bsky.social, about US presidents & their #books. #FDR loved poetry. (Harding wrote lousy poetry.) #Lincoln was influenced by Shakespeare. Grant was good friends w/ #Twain. Who knew? (Feel free to comment about recent WH occupants) #BookSky
Lol though fresh-baked bread can be as good as cake imo
Thanks -- and sending same back to you w/ best wishes for your querying!
Oh, that's not as bad as: "Tonight I'm really going to get back to that manuscript"
Milestone? 50 ratings on Goodreads for my new novel HER DAUGHTER. C'mon Amazon, you gotta catch up... #BookSky
LOL--see my complicated reply in Message
My family & I will be visiting TX & AR next month to see the presidential museums--LBJ, HW Bush, W Bush, Clinton. (We will then have seen all 13 official presidential museums, plus many unofficial homes such as TR's Oyster Bay, Truman's Little White House in Key West etc)๐
LOL After 50 pp, I couldn't believe I'd ever want to read another word by Caro again... After finishing Volume 1, I want to read Vol 2 to learn how LBJ managed to get elected to the Senate, how he manipulated there, etc... But the rest of my book club members want a break!
Pub date today for my friend #ZeevaBukai's newest novel, "The World Between." Her debut "The Anatomy of Exile" just won a National Jewish Book Award--I wonder what honors await this book! #BookSky
I think he genuinely cared about the Hill County people--one of the few times he didn't act only to further his own career. (Yes, he helped lots of people: Civil Rights Act. Great Society. This book argues that w/o him FDR would've lost in 1940.) He was a mix of oversize talent & oversize flaws
A novel in reverse chronological order. I tried to write it but it turned into my 2d novel "I Meant to Tell You," which is a simplified version w/ standard flashbacks...But I deliberately omitted the 1st two generations' stories from that book so maybe I'll return to my original concept someday!
I love the smell of coffee beans... What goes wrong, then, when they're boiled in water??
I tried wall rope #yoga today for the 1st time. Wow! What a workout! Now I feel 2 inches taller (from the stretching)๐
True. If only we knew where the perfect balance spot lies! (Which is true of so much in life!)
Hmm... I find that stress can put me more in touch w/ my emotions, which enriches my writing b/c I dig deeper into my characters' emotions.
My #bookclub mostly liked "The Correspondent" & really connected w/ its theme of #guilt .. but Sybil got annoying & the end tied things up too neatly. How about the epistolary structure? Mostly impressive but sometimes too cute. (And Bravo to a debut novelist's best-seller!) #BookSky
Oops the date is wrong: It's WEDNESDAY FEB 25 at 7 pm!! Sorry
New Yorkers--Please come to my 2d book talk in #NYC for my new novel HER DAUGHTER, next Wed, Feb 27 at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn. Free refreshments! Hosted by @foodcoop.bsky.social Wordsprouts program. #BookSky #fiction #reading #writing #motherhood #divorce #parental-alienation #BRW
Thank you, Shawne! Nice to hear from you...
Yes but the 1st draft is so much harder! (And line edits are easier when you have someone else's edits/opinions to guide you, not just your own 2d thoughts)
Great talking w/ lawyer Ken Landau on his radio show/podcast "Law You Should Know" about the #legal issues in my new novel HER DAUGHTER & how #parental-alienation fits w/ (or is ignored by) divorce law (WHPC radio/90.3FM in NY) www.spreaker.com/show/law-you... #BookSky #fiction #motherhood
I actually don't like coffee, but I do agree that chocolate requires a beverage to clear the palate...
I love that your PTA gives out books! When my kids were little, the Tooth Fairy always gave them a book (and also $1 -- I mean, gotta be practical)
