Oh, and from Mars the sun is bluish from an opposite effect: the dust in the Martian atmosphere scatters red wavelengths. Meaning Martian sunsets are also distinctly blue. Our rovers have captured pictures of it.

I don't know why I'm doing trivia lately. But it makes me feel better and I've been depressed, so forgive me.

In fact, it's the same thing that makes the sky blue -- Rayleigh scattering. The blue and violent wavelengths get scattered, leaving the yellows and reds to reach out eyes!

Did you know our sun isn't actually yellow? It releases light across the spectrum and is this pretty much pure white from space (peaking in the green actually!).

The only reason it appears yellow to us is because it's being filtered through Earth's atmosphere.
