Eric tried a new tactic this morning. Now they are both running around the kitchen island yelling six seven. I'm letting him deal with the chaos he hath wrought.
We have a rule that says Thomas can't repeat things unless he can explain where they came from. He is still allowed to count.
This is brilliant! I'm a firm believer in task specific spaces for mental hygiene. It's harder in small spaces, but designated work spaces makes everything easier. Your mind clicks in, and you get a clear "stop now" when you leave, and you are less likely to be distracted.
Enclothed cognition. We both do this. I need to wear the work clothes to work. I also do my hair and grooming any morning I need to be productive, whether for work or domestic reasons. No change of clothes means my brain no function.
But when you are dressed for it, it's fine for five to ten minutes compared to a whole day.
The same as when I lived in Whitehorse. Temps this low pose significant risk to health and human safety. It is safer for kids to be at the school than left home alone (even when old enough!), or in housing with potentially poor heating. The school will be safe, warm and supervised.

If you want to have kids, that's great and I hope you are able and find it fulfilling. If you don't want kids, that's great and I hope you also find your life fulfilling. Both are valid choices and should be respected.

Both of mine have done this. There ain't no "technically correct" mastermind like a toddler. (Thomas has mostly grown out of it, at least with food.)
I would argue that it's even healthy. I love hearing from people about the cool shit they are into, and I am not, because that's how I learn about new things. If we only like the same stuff, that's so much less fun for everyone.

Working at the Diversity Lounge was such a great experience. We got to talk to folks about so many aspects of what makes the Magic community what it is, and how different people approach the lore.
They are also highly invasive and cause significant harm to local ecosystems. That's on top of being at danger from predation, human activity, and diseases. Cats are highly adapted to cohabitation with humans after thousands of years of self-domestication.
Just like there weren't as many diabetics when my grandparents were kids...
