Watching THE BEAST IN ME. Despite the best efforts of Danes, Rhys, and Campos it suffers from Terminal Netflix Disease: constant, insulting repetition of plot points and dialogue.
Cover of Twisted Teens - Blame the Clown. A black and white photograph of a man in a clown suit and another in a suit and tie framed by green, with the cartoon words "Twisted Teens" on the left side
cover of Dagmar Zuniga - "in filth your mystery is kingdom / far smile peasant in yellow music" Zuniga gazes at the camera, her face baering a few small tattoos, wearing dark green, with mixed pattern textures. The image feels handmade, self-released, and busy with text including the title (multiple times) and the track list, as well as a number of hand-drawn images. The overall effect is surreal and occultic.
Cover of quiet lands' self-titled album. A minimalist collage-like image, featuring two abstracted landscape cyanotypes on the left and the words "quiet lands" typewritten downward on the right.
cover of Worm - Necropalace. Illustrated, a demonic figure on a stone throne is visited by a dragon-like creature in some sort of swirling red and black void hell. The name of the band is at top, presumably, but it is incomprehensibly written, as is the name of the album at the bottom.
2026 albums worth a listen:
Twisted Teens - Blame the Clown
Dagmar Zuniga - in filth your mystery is kingdom / far smile peasant in yellow music
quiet lands - s/t
Worm - Necropalace
I can't afford these but the craftwork is beautiful. Congrats!

Some day in the distant future there will be a fervent @bestalbumbrackets.bsky.social debate about whether this incredible Dagmar Zuniga album counts for 2025 or 2026.
If you're getting your sphincter examined, you might as well throw in the bowel.
A truly remarkable record. As much about texture and ambience as it is about folk songcraft.
"We've got Old Overholt and Yuengling -- pick your poison, brother!"
Need something to smile about, can we get a picture of Trump with a new bruise or rash to drop on the TL today?
You don't get to do this dumb hardguy shit when you washed out of the High-A Asheville Tourists in 2018.
I'm doing a study of patient film grammar for my debut feature BIRDWATCHING. Lemme know if there's anything you think I should watch. #FilmSky 📽️
(I think they're wrong and that Platner could be an albatross for the national Dems in the general, but we might be at a point where partisanship is so strong and Trump's negatives are so high it doesn't matter)
It's not that they love Platner or his Nazi tattoo (and his associations with antisemites), it's that they believe he can advance their policy platform in the same way Evangelicals have by throwing all their support behind a president who is, let's be real, an atheist.
I think the simplest explanation of the Platner phenomenon is that a lot of people really want blue-collar coded lefty male candidates to be A Thing and are trying to wishcast guys who actively suck ass (Iron Stache, Fetterman, Platner) into that role and are eager to look past how shitty they are.
When Mary Harron and Tom Kalin made I SHOT ANDY WARHOL, they had to comb through the court transcripts of the Valerie Solanas trial and cite every single fact presented in the film. It is insane to me the liberty Ryan Murphy is given in series after series to libel and impugn his subjects.
A digitally drawn homage to the George Herriman comic strip Krazy Kat. Starting left of frame we see yellow Ignatz Mouse having just thrown a brick which is sailing across the center of the frame and in another instant will bash the oblivious Krazy Kat (a blue bipedal cartoon cat wearing a red scarf) in the back of the head as he walks innocently to the right. Everything is drawn in rough black pen and colored in pale washes. A speech bubble from Ignatz reads ‘Maybe it will…’, the word ’Happen’ appears in the whooshing trail of the sailing brick, and a final speech bubble belonging to the Kat reads ‘…Today’.
My favorite videos on Instagram are Uzbek and Kazakh guys cooking plov for banquets.
Kristi Noem on her first day as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas
I don't understand how you produce a nine episode "love story" that ends with him recklessly killing her, her sister, and himself by crashing a plane in weather experienced pilots would have avoided.
A war that isn't a war, documented with videos that may or may not be real, funded by elected leaders who are neither for nor against it, is the most dystopian thing that's happened in my lifetime

Greg Davies: Great task, well done. Didn‘t eat a thing.
Persephone: Thank you.
Alex Horne: Ah. Well. Let’s take another look at that pomegranate.

We just ran out of ideas. Nothing evolved after nu-metal that captured the popular imagination. Like jazz before it, the genre became divided between those who wanted to experiment within its terms and those who wanted to iterate on past ideas.

This might be the most consequential bad decision in the history of modern warfare.
