Labor Day isn’t just about honoring work; it’s about truth. From Feb–July, 319,000 Black women left the workforce (Katica Roy). The most educated group in the U.S. is still unsupported. When Black women are pushed out, we all lose. The Cognition Collective helps leaders build real equity.

To not know Black history is to not know the United States. The labor, resistance, and creativity of Black Americans are woven into every aspect of this nation’s existence.

The reality is that for most of this country’s existence, laws were (some still are) in place to oppress and suppress Black brilliance. Slavery, Jim Crow, redlining, voter suppression, and mass incarceration—these are not distant relics.

So, no written national proclamation defines, certifies, or permits Blackness to exist, be celebrated, or be recognized. Our history is not granted—it is lived, remembered, and carried forward by us.
