I always felt that Isaac's companion, the "Big Guy" slowly became predominant over the years -- it didn't happen all at once. Back in his college years, Isaac was a skinny guy! When he started packing on pounds following school, he figured that at first it was just normal weight gain... at first.

Sometimes even a durable synthetic composite spacesuit can't contain the pudge, and you just gotta let it hang.
