Xal 🦑 #1 Mind Flayer Supremacist 🦑

Unfortunately, I don't often talk about this, I don't know why. Perhaps road movie are simply challenging for me.

It was a time of brief healing for Xal and his attempts to build a new life. A bright spot in his existence. Xal himself considers that period to be very important for him, and memories of that time warm his soul.

I would like to reveal more about the period when Xal travelled with Kealen, because a lot of funny and not-so-funny events happened during that time, and also because, with Kealen's support, Xal began to resemble not a drunkard, but a handsome young elf.

The core that started it all for him and for me.
In fact, Xal was born because I adore the Emperor and really wanted my character to adore him too.

A cool protagonist who loves the Emperor, whom everyone hates. Wow. nteresting, creative! 😂
Fortunately, Xal quickly transcended these boundaries. He became a personality with an absolutely crazy lore and an equally crazy character, but he still loves the Emperor.

Even before I created him.
I mean, I created him specifically so that he would become ‘the one’ to me. Not in the sense that he was supposed to be something special to me, but simply that he was supposed to be a continuation of me and my desires in bg3.

And I like it.
I'm proud of what Xal has become, and his strength and stubbornness are just one of his most notable aspects that I love about him.

He wants to live and will live, despite everything.
So he simply sees no other way out than to take his bloodstained sword and just carry on living.
I didn't originally plan this path for him, but at some point it just became obvious to me.

Xal is strong.
It doesn't matter how hard he is beaten, humiliated, or how much fate hates him, because after all that, he will still get up. Wounded, broken, with pain in his soul and tears in his eyes, he will get up and move on, because he loves life more than anything else in the world.

I don't even need to make an effort to write about him now. I just know him, his actions, his words, his reactions and emotions simply flow through my mind, he is a part of me, but not me. I don't want to be like him, but I want to enjoy watching him.

but Xal helps me, if not to heal, then at least to forget for a while about the shit surrounding me.
Before, he was just a character to me. An ordinary one that I could forget as soon as I left bg3, but over time I began to see him as a person, a fictional one, but a person nonetheless.

Diplomacy.
Xal's attempts to be a good diplomat usually end in ultra-violence. It's funny because Xal is actually VERY charismatic. 😌
Also, he's a shitty warrior-swordsman, oddly enough. Because without the help of magic, he can't handle his beloved swords; he can't even swing them.

His brother, however, never remembered what he had said after he regained consciousness. And that monologue frightened him no less.

Can I trust you as much as I trusted my brother?"

It was the weirdest, most unpleasant, scariest question Xal had ever heard. This whole quiet, intimate monologue from his delirious brother was painful and wrong for Xal.

*He lowers both hands, opens his eyes, looks at Xal, but his gaze is sorrowful, lifeless. Tears in the corners of his eyes froze and did not run down his cheeks.

"I wonder why you are still alive after that? You should not be alive..."

...

"Are you my brother? Who are you? Are you truly him?

The head stuck in that door is laughing at you, ussta 'chev korit'al.

*With his other hand, he reaches for Xal's lips, slowly running his thumb along his lower lip.

"And your lips allowed you to breathe in what lies beyond.
I miss your warm, deep breathing, you know. I miss it so much..."

"Your hand is cold as a corpse's, now completely unlike mine."

*In a deep trance and delirium, he presses Xal's hand to his neck. For a few seconds, he tries to warm Xal's fingers.

"The eyes at the tips of your fingers gazed beyond that door, didn't they?

- The Absolute is dead, but it considered him first a useful pawn, then a little shit.

- Xal's other adoptive parents are also dead, but unlike his previous parents, they truly loved him despite the fact that they were humans and he was a Drow. They pampered him and wanted him to find his place in life.
- Bhaal thinks Xal is a little shit and regrets not being able to kill him.

- His biological mother thinks Xal is a little shit and regrets not killing him right after he was born.

Every time he goes to bed, he thinks about how many useful and interesting things he could be doing instead of sleeping. This makes him feel uncomfortable and frustrated, and as a result, he sometimes goes without sleep for several days in a row.

Xal doesn't like to sleep, firstly because every dream he has is a surreal nightmare.
Secondly, he considers long sleep a waste of his precious time and regrets that the days when he only needed a short trance instead of a long sleep are gone.

Xal would either annihilate Bhaal or annihilate all the Giths.
He hates them all equally, and therefore would like to rid himself and all universes of their presence forever.
This is the greatest fix he desires.

Because of his fear of loneliness, he lives for the moment. He tries to enjoy every second of the life he has finally managed to build for himself.

He knows that in the end he will be alone again, but this time forever. And the worst thing for him is that he will not be able to end his loneliness, because suicide is completely pointless, as his soul is bound to the Far Realm and his Patron.
