My first uni assignments are due today... I had to login and work on them over Christmas 😭 but I've got them submitted on time! So that's the first hurdle down and many many more hurdles to come.

But progress is progress, no matter how small.

One of my fave things to do is rescue and restore plushes 🥺

Throwback to this little guy @cassiuscrafts.com sent me in 2022. I turned him inside out, pieced what was left back together, patched his eyes. Added replacement safety eyes then ladder stitched to hide the excess!

Remember: small businesses and creators deserve a holiday too. If you're waiting on a commission from someone, maybe hold off until after the holidays on sending those "friendly" little "check in" messages or emails.

Let them enjoy their holidays and switch off. You can wait a few more days.

Why

"Replace" 10 workers that cost you x much with an AI that actually the costs can be claimed back as business costs, generating in theory more revenue for bosses to get their greedy hands on.

I just dunno what to do about it all. My voice isn't heard anymore when I advise caution.

And then I come online or talk to my friends who are being affected by AI which people are using to replace their creative jobs. Next is admin, receptionists, data analysis... Bosses want the world to be automated because you don't have to pay an AI a salary or tax, in fact, you can

The entire meeting. Video presentations fully ai generated and voiced over were used, people spoke about training ai to make decisions... I can't say what kind of decisions because it would cause an uproar, but if you know where I work you can make an educated guess...

Working in tech while the AI bubble is inflating is a wild time tbh. All I hear from my peers and leaders is AI this and AI that.

If you don't use it or talk about it positively, you're seen as old and uninterested in "advancing". This week we had a whole directorate meeting and AI dominated
