3YO from the other room: "DADA CAN WE PLAY BARFIN' SYSTEM???"

same in cambridge, building is shaking. "fortunately" kid is sick and nobody's sleeping anyways so it's kind of a two-birds, one miserable night situation
hi rise cheddar snails have become their own line item on our family's monthly budget so count me in
Literoom PWA's dock andΒ Home Screen icon
Literoom PWA's welcome dialog
Literoom PWA's album view, showing an album "Parker" with 6 photos of a dark-haired mini dachshund
Literoom PWA's "Copy from Preset" dialog that lets you apply a predefined or custom palette to your 2-bit image
I decided that it was finally time to post about Literoom.app, a tool I've been developing on and off (and over and over again) for the past couple of years.
> Organize, tag, and enjoy funtography in Literoom, your tiny studio for the art of Game Boy Camera.
Not my son performing a distillation attack on me by repeatedly asking why

Two little things I observed:
- When I was about to publish and was adding tags, the ones I selected seemed to disappear from the UI (but they were there when I published)
- found myself wanting to link to a section of my own page (like I would with a '#' normally)
But overall a lovely experience
FROM THE ROOFTOPS
This is done with @leaflet.pub BTW, extremely cool use of AT Proto
I've been feeling guilty about posting only short-form clips about my more recent projects. It's important to me that everything I do is as open as possible. So I'm going to try to start writing things up again here, and I'm hoping to get some real YouTube stuff posted soon. Feel free to sub :)
halftime show??? shoulda been a fulltime show am I right
Dunno yet! Only up and running a few days. Aiming for "as infrequently as possible" though it's trivial to add/remove
It's the older model of this (im not sure what the difference is) + their little ESP32 plugin board. I got a box of them on eBay dirt cheap last year and they are my new fave thing

ACAB includes screen-time cops
Made an "analog" YouTube book for my kid so she can choose what she wants (from pre-approved list) without being exposed to a thumbnail hellscape. Also automatically cuts her off after x scans
We're working on patience and politeness and saying "please" with the 3YO but we have one exception which is that she's categorically allowed to tell any adult to "put your phone away"
TYYY
There's an ESP32-C3 on each, software is written in MicroPython. Was originally gonna use ESP-NOW for communication but ended up going with WiFi so I could hack around on a computer as well
Handheld game console made from a custom black PCB. The top left says OMCB2GO in gold. The top right has a large power switch. There are twenty blue LEDs which are used as a binary counter in the top center. There is a large glowing checkbox made from circular LEDs in the center. Below that are three buttons, one to scroll left, one to scroll right, and one to check or uncheck the current box.
I drew the legend @itseieio.bsky.social for secret santa this year so I made him a handheld, consolized version of One Million Checkboxes. It's still multiplayer, the units sync up wirelessly! the LEDs up top show you which checkbox is currently selected

Wife: "do you... want a snack?"
Me: "no, I want a vending machine"
Eh it would only work if you were the incredibly-suave-an... OH you already covered that! yup

I tested with my parents! I think "fortunately" everybody's got QR codes down since covid
Couldn't decide on a photo this year so I decided to record a whole-ass video essay and attach it to an augmented reality holiday card that I can update remotely each year
